I haven't stayed at the Dove Inn, I have just been there for lunch. The food was delicious. Now they have stopped doing food. This is very, very sad, as there is nowhere in a 20 mile radius, (at least) that could better it. How rotten for the staff, losing their jobs just before Christmas. How very unkind of the owners. Hotels are ten a penny, good food and lovely staff aren't!

We came here for lunch today, 10th April, with some very good friends. We were sat in the conservatory. It was lovely and warm and bright. We got our drinks order in, slight problem with the Gin as sent strawberry not London dry, but they sorted very quickly. The menu today was not the full menu that was on the website, it was hand written and photo copied. We were disappointed as I was looking forward to a gammon steak, and a friend wanted something that was no longer available. We phoned in the morning to check the time the table was booked, but we’re not told it wasn’t the full menu. But we ordered something anyway. I had tomato soup which was very nice, well seasoned followed by the sirloin steak, it was cooked spot on, the chunky chips were absolutely fabulous, and a dish filled with peppercorn sauce. It was a fantastic meal. My wife and a friend had the chicken, basically a hunters chicken, it was cooked well, with potatoes and other veg, in a creamy sauce, the other friend didn’t fancy any of the main meals, so had the prawn cocktail as a main, she really enjoyed it too. They had a pud between them, they loved that too. So from what could have been a bad day with the menu, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, even the coffee afterwards was very good. I have given the 5 stars for the meals we ate, and the very attentive staff, and quality of the food. Maybe should have taken one off for not telling us about the menu until we got there, but I’m a fair man and they deserved 5 stars.
Stayed here for 1 night after a spa day at Centre Parcs Longleat. Situated in a lovely little village - of Corton - about 15 minutes south from Longleat, the hotel and pub were excellent. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. The pub provides excellent food on a good variety menu, as well as a choice of real ales. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Had a great evening and a good nights sleep. We would definitely return when we are next in the area. Many thanks to ????? and Lee.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay and eat. Everyone was so friendly and the service was great. The food was good, with a wide choice of dishes, only sorry we couldnt stay for sunday lunch. The rooms were spotlessly clean
Really dog friendly (as opposed to dog tolerant) especially as we have 3 - 2 large standard Poodles and a Cockerpoo - and often find it hard to find a place that will take 3 dogs. Really recommend a stay.
We came across this gem while on a bike ride. Not our local area so was a welcome stop off for some lunch.
The food we both ordered was burgers. We agreed hands down one of the best burgers we've ever had. Amazing.
Yet another change of chef/staff and food has taken a serious nosedive. Very overpriced for poor quality food and disorganised service. A formerly small village pub that has lost the quaint village feel with large extensions for dinning space and converted outbuildings into motel style rooms.
I was so looking forward to having lunch with my son. We sat in the conservatory at a very spacious table for two. The glass roof in the conservatory looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months! The chef came into the conservatory, he was very scruffy dressed in jeans and a not very white chefs jacket. The crispy beef starter was brought to the table within minutes. It looked unappetising and was very dry. No sooner had the starter plate been removed, the sirloin steak was brought to the table. It looked anemic and, like the starter, not very appetising. It was even more disappointing when I started chewing my way through it! It was tough, unseasoned and tasteless. The Sticky Toffee pudding with ice cream looked as if it had been plated with no care. I would not recommend the food!
We went to our daughters wedding which was The Dove Inn's first wedding reception. We were met on arrival by a very helpful young man, named Louis. He was very pleasant and helpful. We had been given a lovely room on the ground floor, which was ideal for my wife's mobility issues. The food for all the meals we had was superb. Lee and his team did an excellent job with organising and serving all the guests at the wedding reception. We shall definitely return to The Dove Inn, when we make future visits to see our daughter and son in law. Thanks.
