Stayed here whilst visiting some friends in Wales. The pub is very oldy worldy with old furniture and quirky decor. Outside there is a beautiful large beer garden with picnic benches over looking a river below. ||||They have their own chickens and use the fresh eggs for breakfasts. I had breakfast one morning included in room price and was not disappointed. Smoked salmon poched eggs and a whole rack of toast with jam, marmalade, butter and Marmite options. Fresh juice and coffee etc. I didn't need to eat until supper. Evening meal was good, I wouldn't say excellent. Steak and chip dinner just average but good enough for the price. ||||Everyone was very friendly and chatty at the bar it had a very welcoming feel. The room was as expected traditional style. The bedding was so comfortable I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. I did have an issue with the lock of the door being a bit fiddly and there wasn't a light in the hallway as such after a few red wines in my friends campervan outside I struggled to get in ha ! Overall a lovely place I would definitely visit again and recommend to friends. Ps. Try the Entrecote red wine it's lovely !
We came to this lovely pub for a meal as we were staying in the area. The staff and the locals in the bar were really friendly and we had a lovely evening. Food was excellent too, we had the beefburgers.
We stopped off for a coffee and delicious home made warm Welsh Cakes on our travels. A lovely warm welcome from the staff, the garden is beautiful with great views across the river and a great location. Will definitely be back for an overnight stay so the Beer and Food can be sampled - it looks fab and the building is so very quaint.
Excellent birthday meal ???? We will be back very soon! They managed to cater for our group of 5 that included carnivores, vegetarians and an onion-avoiding person. Great choice on the menu and super options on the blackboard too. Delicious. Highly recommended.
Lovely friendly welcome from the staff. Can eat outside or in. Choice of charming rooms inside. It was Sunday lunch but asking for a hot beef sandwich was no problem. It came with side salad and chips. Absolutely delicious beef on scrummy bread. The is a great place to eat and drink. Apparently the bedrooms have been individually styled. Highly Recommended
Had dinner time food which was huge, hot, and very tasty, good selection of beers and cider, did not stay so cannot. Comment, well worth a visit a Roman gold mine (National Trust) close by so pop in well worth a visit
A real hidden gem not to be missed. The building itself has plenty of charm and character with a great size garden as well. A warm welcome felt the norm and a nice menu which caters for most, even my daughter who has dietary needs found something she liked. The food was great and we were all very happy. With great service, great food and well priced this is definatley a place to visit or stay.
We have passed this pub hundreds of times on way west and always said we were going to stop and am I glad we did this time. Lovely old quaint pub with plenty of character. All regulations were met with regards to covid yet felt comfy and enjoyed a safe visit. From moment we were greeted the staff were amazing. Couldn't do enough for us and very friendly. The food was excellent and portions were big. Home made curry was excellent and my mam even had some home grown potatoes from the garden which she said were delicious. Very impressed. |So impressed we have booked another table for bank holiday Monday when we go down west again. Can bot recommend this place enough. Excellent all round.
