Absolutely delicious vegetarian wellington, with a good amount of veg and gravy.
Especially loved the care and attention from the staff to our dog, including his excellent Sunday roast as well. Great experience here!
What a beautiful pub, the older gentleman behind the bar was really lovely and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our few hours in there. ????
The Crown pub located within the hotel is a historic little place. Cobblestones last you into an old, OLD, low ceiling-ed little pub. There is a nice choice of beer, a local IPA, cider and wine.
The locals are so nice and always ready to help you find your way, as I was a tourist, visiting from the states. The staff are incredible, kind and courteous, and literally always ready to help. The rooms are quaint, comfy and have everything you need to settle in. The food is nothing less than outstanding and the manager, Alan, is ever available to answer questions about the hotel, the area and is always ready with a story full of history. I highly, highly recommend a visit, here. If I am able, I will be back!
If you're into the cult classic, Hot Fuzz, you'll definitely want to visit and see the memorabilia from the movie, as it was filmed just out front and around the town. The front desk will even give you a little map of where to find all of the movie "hot spots" for photos.
This is definitely a must see, must stay, must come back!
The food is really good. The ox cheek was amazing and I can’t say enough about the sticky toffee pudding. Staff was super friendly. Well definitely come back!
I've been here twice, during the pandemic, and have to say that their pints were great, but not their service... it seems like the staff is afraid to say 'thank you', 'you're welcome', even a simple 'hello', that felt weird
I cannot comment on thw quality of the food because I left as soon as i entered after watching a waitress bring dog food on a plate to a dog who then ate at the table. Disgusting.
The Crown pub is a beautiful pub in the city of Wells.
Wells is with the exception of the City of London the smallest city in England. This City id full of historic buildings and charming scenery.
In its very centre sits the Crown , famous for its role in the movie Hot Fuzz its walls show pictures and memorabilia from the hit movie. It’s full of interesting pictures and items.
It’s an old building with lots of charm from its bare wooden beams to its decor. It has a warm ambience and plenty of seating inside. It also Has a nice outdoor seating area with shade.
The brood on offer is great with different specials daily. The quality of the cuisine is also good and the service excellent.
The staff working at the Crown pub are friendly and helpful.
It’s a great place to visit just for the food on offer but for fans of Hit Fuzz or the Cornetto trilogy it’s a must visit.
