I stayed at the Crown from the 6th July for a week. The lady in charge couldn’t have been more welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. I was on a walking holiday so wanted to get out early, a lovely cooked breakfast was ready every morning at 7. My room was spotless and regularly serviced.. |The pub serves a good selection of beers, kept well. A pint at the end of the day was accompanied by cheerful chat with myself and or any other customers staying or just calling in for a drink.
We visited at the weekend (out for birthday drinks) but were supposed to pop in for one drink. A few drinks later, we were glad we stayed.||The landlady was accommodating - singing 'happy birthday' and getting the pub to sing along, after catching sight of a 'happy birthday' balloon on our table. It was a lovely thing to do.||We'd all definitely go back. It's a place you can relax, socialise and feel welcomed. Recommended.
Stayed here for 2 nights, 1st after a gig at the Trades Club then 2nd as we decided to make a weekend of it in Hebden Bridge. Excellent location, close to the train station, Trades, and all the local amenities. All you need for a place to stay. The landlady is a great character, works tirelessly to keep things ticking over, always there whether it is checking in during the afternoon, serving breakfast first thing in the morning or in the bar at night. A very genuine person with good conversation. We would definitely stay again. The breakfast was great too!
We stayed at The Crown for one night because we were going to a concert in nearby Todmorden. It's brilliantly located right in the centre, close to the market and the main square. We had a warm welcome from the start, and were shown and given a key to the dedicated after hours entrance so we knew we could come back late without disturbing anybody! Our room was generously sized with comfy clean bedding and nice new towels in the bathroom. We were offered a continental breakfast for Sunday morning which was as expected, coffee, fresh orange, plenty of choice of cereals and jams with the toast. We didn't spend much time in the Crown Inn during the Saturday afternoon or evening because we were out and about sightseeing and we had booked a meal in a restaurant in Todmorden.||The day after we returned Pamela left me a lovely telephone message to say sorry she hadn't been able to spend much time with us but she hoped we'd had a lovely stay and hoped she would see us again. This was a lovely touch! Thanks to all x
Stayed overnight and had a decent experience - rooms where good enough, if beginning to feel a bit on the tired side, breakfast was good and included. Not a place to go if you wanted to get a quiet early night as noise from the bar was very apparent in our room - I guess some will be better than others and it also wasn't a problem for us. It is quite expensive though, and that was the only real big negative for me.
Excellent. The Crown is an excellent place to stay. Pamela the landlady is a brilliant hard working woman who puts her heart and soul into the Crown. Our room was spot on - clean warm and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was huge and delicious. The service we received was superb and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Crown. We will be returning to stay again in the spring.
Friendly staff and dog friendly place. Part African part real pub decor! We went to watch the rugby on big screen... with newspapers on the tables too it is easy to chill out here for a while. Drinks were no frills (no ice or slice) but with a large selection.
**Side note, the staff are not friendly about 3* reviews but they do have ice on request.
We stayed at the Crown Inn for one night whilst we were walking the Pennine Way. We we both so disappointed with almost every aspect of the stay. We were excited about staying there based on the website which showed the rooms to be luxurious and spacious. Our room was named ‘Juliet’, with the website quoting ‘Layers of bedding and a mountain of pillows’. The bed was nothing like this. A couple of old tatty flat pillows on a limp quilt was what we got. Unfortunately the room was nothing like what the website promised. The room was dirty and had not been hoovered. It was small and extremely dated. The website boasted a ‘17 inch TV’, which, even at that small size, managed to obscure the passage in front of the bed to the point I banged into it several times. The host, rather than giving us a warm welcome (which would have been lovely given the hard day of walking we had just had and we had in store the next day), she was fixated on our walking boots, checking they were not muddy. I find this hard to comprehend as the floors were so dirty anyway, and also the reception was in a bar with a stone floor. The bar was disruptive to the point the police had been called in when we got in later in the evening. After completing the Pennine Way in 12.5 days in horrific weather conditions, regrettably the stay at the Crown inn was a major low point. If considering booking please take the website with a massive pinch of salt as you will be disappointed otherwise.
