What a fab place for lunch.
Obviously, they can be very busy. Fortunately we went for a late lunch around 1:30-1:45 and got seated in the conservatory which had a nice view out into the garden and included a big heater to keep the place warm.
The staff were lovely and very helpful giving clear guidance on how to order and what's on the menu.
The decaf tea was well presented, a good quantity and hot. The quiche meals were of very generous portions, with a good measure of mixed salad.
There was a wide selection of cakes. The cornflake tart caught my eye and when it came it was a generous portion. I can recommend it!
We moved into the main seating area after a short time as it was quite cool in the conservatory for us. The big heater couldn’t quite cope with the outside sliding doors opening for customers coming and going. The main seating area was a better area to sit, and was a good bit warmer.
It was good to see the staff set to cleaning the tables and floors after customers had left.
There are a couple of toilets on the ground floor, both clean and tidy with good facilities.
The couple of things that would have made our experience even better was. 1. Fix the sliding outside door and stop it being left open or sliding open. On a cold day it is noticeable. 2. Both of our quiche meals were only just warm. They would have been much nicer a lot hotter.
Overall, the staff were excellent, the food very good and the place was clean and tidy. Prices were a little more then we would have paid else where.
There appears to be two car parks. We parked in the one off the main road and ended walking along it just around the corner to find the closer carpark and the entrance.
We will definitely go again, perhaps when the weather improves or ask for a seat inside the main café.
Ive visited here a few times before & the staff are always pleasant, with this time being the same.
I chose to go for the full English breakfast, changing the eggs for halloumi, which tasted lovely. Everything on the plate was cooked on point having no complaints. For drinks, I went for the flat white & a caramel milkshake both tasting great!
First time for us at the cowshed and wow was I impressed. We both had the breakfast with haloumi and I added black pudding. I was so impressed by the black pudding I would go to cowshed for it alone. The rest of it was lovely and then there's the cakes, oh bugger the selection this superb, we both have the Victoria sponge and it was beautiful, not to sweet very well well balanced and very tasty. The staff were lovely very welcoming and polite. Will be back as there's lots on the menu and I would to almost try it all. Thank you cowshed.
Our first visit, but certainly not our last, The Cowshed catered for wife who is coeliac without batting an eyelid, I had the vegetarian breakfast with black pudding as I'm not a very strict vegetarian. Lovely food in a lovely setting, brilliant staff and a reasonable price.
Food delicious, if not a tad pricy (see menu, cakes £3.95 each). The service was a little slow, but all the tables were full. It was quite noisy too, I feel this was as they crammed a lot of tables in a small space.
Just FYI the carpark is tiny, it'll only fit about 8-10 cars in. There is a slight incline ramp to get to the entrance, which my grandma struggled with, and no disabled parking.
Over all, we would visit again, but maybe not with my grandma x
We eat virtually every Sat morning on our bike trip and as a rule we love it there even though it’s not the cheapest ! It setting is quite lovely but there is a big difference between Co owners one is lovely Nikki the other I’m afraid to say has a face like a dead bird and no customer skills! Ok so we arrived a littler earlier but the atmosphere was frosty and unprofessional
I’m sorry to say I will knot be coming back as one of our party left one of the genuinely said I hope will see you again the Co owner said not bothered if they come back ever again! Well that’s gratitude on average the two regular riders spend £900 a year on breakfast
So we went to the old school house in Stanton by Dale who welcomed us and I have to say provided us with superb breakfast and marginally cheaper . Well cowshed your loss there gain ????????????
Cowshed Dale Abbey is a place that our group of 5 cyclists frequently visits for a delicious breakfast and a refreshing cup of coffee. However, our recent experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an unwelcoming lady who was cleaning the outside tables. She instructed us to wait inside and informed us that the breakfast service would not begin until 9:30 am. Normally, we arrive a bit earlier and are offered a drink while we wait. Unfortunately, this time was different. We sat patiently, hoping to be acknowledged, but eventually had to ask if we could order a drink. To our surprise, we received a snotty response, "I'll make you a coffee after I've made my own." At that point, we had reached our limit and decided to leave. Furthermore, the food at Cowshed Dale Abbey is overpriced considering the quality and portion size. All in all, it was a disappointing experience, and we have no plans to return.
À popylar, bustling countryide situated tea room offering hot or cold foods and tasty home made cakes. Dog walkers and their pooches always welcomed and water is available too for them!
Very welcoming and hard working staff, well organised and accomodating of mobility scooters without inconvenience (best to arrange ahead). Food is freshly cooked so expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes whilst enjoying their range of coffees and cold drinks. Outdoor, under cover seating usually available but indoors limited to space during busy periods. Open 6 days per week (closed Tuesdays).
