Great spot near Cardiff, we stayed for a nearby wedding. Comfy rooms, hot showers and a lovely breakfast. Staff were very friendly. If I had one note it would be that it would have been nice to have a beer in the evening from the bar after a long drive however everything was close by 9 on the Saturday. Overall though great place.
Booked here because it's very quiet and out of the way, a night away form my busy demanding job, upon arrival was shown to our room and to be fair for the little amount charged was surprisingly clean and tidy, the evening meal menu could do with more choice but for only a few pound you can't really go wrong, the cooked breakfast in the morning was better and again only for a few pound, trying to keep a low profile and yet again still got recognised by the lady serving our food. All in all for the little money charged you can't go wrong. 8/10 from us. Thank you countryman inn ????
Drove in here at 4:00PM on a Sunday. Car blew an oil seal and dumped its power steering fluid all over the car park.|This is a fishing hotel with a small, pub-food menu and a bar that closes early. We booked here because there are wheelchair friendly rooms.||The hotel was completely fine with the oil leak, and showed me a space to leave the car for the RAC to pick up. RAC booked a rental for the following day. ||The hotel were absolutely fine with me dumping a car on them until it could be collected. They held off cleaning my mother's room so we could use it as a base until I collected the rental from Cardiff Airport.||We were made welcome and treated warmly throughout our short stay. We'll stay again next year if we need a hotel for the trip home.
A great spot very quiet and relaxing. Barbara was very helpful and booked our breakfast, the breakfast was lovely well presented and plentiful. Great coffee. Ample parking and great views of the countryside and fishing lakes.
I shared a room with my lovely partner, who booked us in for a surprise valentines/anniversary getaway and it was truly wonderful staying at The countryman.
From the minute we opened the door, there was a beautiful presentation of roses???? and champagne ????. The room itself is gorgeous and beyond comfortable.
There was everything you could want, plus, the lush countryside was literally outside our door.
We woke to the sound of nothing but birdsong and I felt all my stresses just melt away.
The location made it feel like we were truly hidden away, yet there is a town centre not too far away, for delicious take outs, restaurants and other amenities such as supermarkets etc.
We didn't order breakfast but the owner was so nice that I have zero doubts that it will be as great as everything else. Thank you for having us and I've already started planning our return visit ???? ????
My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The welcome was very nice, and we were shown to our room. The room was upstairs opposite the main building. It was very clean and functional with a shower. We had dinner which was excellent traditional pub fayre. The only ‘issue ‘ I had was I was drinking and enjoying my port but I’m convinced the glass had a leak and hence needed constant refilling! ||Breakfast was awesome, the fresh fruit platter with yogurt and their local honey was simply yummy. The cooked breakfast was by my standard huge. ||After the wedding nearby we came back and I had dinner again. Homemade lasagne swimming in cheese (real cheese!) sauce. ||The staff were excellent and friendly. ||Totally recommend for a stay.
Beautiful location and excellent children's play area. We went as a family with 2 children and a dog. We were sat outside and ordered food. The weather took a turn for worse and we asked to be moved inside - unfortunately dogs were not welcome inside, which I think is a real shame for "country pub"!!|Anyway the food was good, was disappointed though that there were no drinks on draught, only bottles!! Which were very expensive! I think it was £4 for a small bottle of Moretti. For this reason we will not be re-visiting.
Absolutely loved our stay here. The service was A1.. lovely room with a comfy bed.. hot shower and an amazing breakfast, not to mention the peaceful location, but not too far from some nightlife if you so please ???? highly recommend.
