The movie theater there is super nice and clean, and the two young men that waited on us were super friendly and helpful. We were the only people watching the movie we chose, so it was really nice to have the entire room to ourselves, but it is kinda sad that this great place is going to waste.
What happened to the Martin County Public Library? This "center" closed our excellent downtown public library, grabbed up all of the county's library tax revenue. did a hap-hazard job of putting up some book shelves, gave any good jobs to buddies and now call it, for some reason, "The Collier Center?" We were told it's now the county public library, but, well, so far, not one sign, not one word, that it's no longer the county library, which nevertheless bailed the erstwhile "community center" out of debt and now pays nearly all its bills -- although I'd bet the Rufus Reed Library over in Warfield, which was purchased by the "library board" for $149,000 from (you know, after the library board had paid them $730,000 in rent since 1983), library records show, is still in business. A good prosecutor would examine these transactions.
I haven't been to the community center in a few years but I remember when its doors opened. I lived in the county over but my cousins lived in Martin county so I spent as much time there as I did at home. We spent soooooooo much time at the community center. We would go and stay all day long playing basketball, getting on the computers, and watched many a movies in the theater. I think every town should offer a nice place like this for kids.
It gives our young ppl a place to go to get in shape or to watch a movie. I love that they've put that here in Martin Co. We have fun when my son goes to practice basketball. This is my aunt Denise my son Lucas and of course myself ????
Love the theater there but not too fond of the seats inside. Feels like you're being squished when you sit down in them. There's also multiple other events/things you can do inside The Collier Center. Check it out for yourself!
It's wonderful to have this community center available in Inez. I appreciate that so many various events and activities can happen here. I also appreciate that new movies are shown here so folks don't have to travel too far away. Anytime I've ever interacted with the staff here I find they're very friendly and so informative. I encourage everyone to check it out if you haven't had the chance to yet.
Whenever I'm visiting my wife's family in town I always go to the Roy F Collier to play basketball and sometimes see a movie. Although they need to clean the floor of the gym because it's a little dangerous I generally like to go because it's a friendly environment for families. And the movie prices are on par with what you should expect these days. Overall I think that is really great for Inez to have this place because otherwise there would be nothing else to do in Inez
Don't get this place tbh. Has a gym , not allowed to play basketball. Has a theater, doesn't play movies. Not sure what they do anymore.
