Best KPortal Reviews

I originally went to The Coastal as I was passing by and saw their sign for lobster rolls and thought I would take one home for my wife. Thinking it would be an appetizer type thing, I was pleasantly surprised to see they basically created a huge sandwich and called it a roll. Since that is one her favorite things, I knew I had to take her there for her birthday for the full experience and it was a great one. The staff was attentive and took care of all our needs without having to ask. The food was excellent; even the burger my daughter got, but especially the lobster bisque and red snapper my wife ordered. She's the seafood girl, so I got the tenderloin which was also a great choice. Prepared as requested and served with the best potatoes au gratin I've ever had! It's great when you can support the local businesses, but even better when they make it worthwhile! Keep it up The Coast!
I wanted this restaurant to be great but was left disappointed. I hate to leave a negative review but my hope is that it will be helpful. I absolutely love their other restaurant (their other restaurant is our go-to date night restaurant). First, their menu has minimal seafood options (which the name implies otherwise). Second, the options they had are similar to their other restaurant (which I was excited about) yet not the same caliber. Third, the problem was that the food was not necessarily on the level of the original restaurant and the service was not great. We decided, last minute, to go to The Costal, as it was a celebration and something new. I have met the owners and love their other place. The problem is that we were greeted as more of a problem than a welcome family of customers. Next, we didn’t even get drink orders in for at least 20 minutes after being seated. We aren’t a needy family, however, that seems excessive. As for the food, we had a similar experience with our food order and it left us underwhelmed. I know the chef is great but the food was (in different dishes) oddly flavored, over cooked, and missing items. Normally, I would give the restaurant another try but between the lack of service and disappointing food, (in the words of Randy from American Idol) “it’s a NO for me dog”
After four visits, the food and service are consistently stellar. Tuesdays feature tacos and Wednesdays feature oysters, either raw or chargrilled. The lobster bisque is a must try!
The menu was limited to 3 entries.
I had the hash. It was as good as hoped it would be. The beef and pork tenderloin were tender.
The potatoes, artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms, and sprouts worked perfectly together.
The portions were huge.
I took home almost half of my dinner to enjoy later.
The hostress welcomed us to The Costal. It set the tone for the rest of the evening
I was an enjoyable experience
Highly recommend
I was so excited to try this place for my father’s birthday. All the pictures of the menu items looked fabulous and the reviews were great. Talk about disappointment when I arrived and the menu was nothing like what was pictured. Food we got was decent but over priced. No lobster, no oysters, mostly high end bar food and very limited at that. A couple of sandwiches, a burger, 5 “entree items which were just a protein choice (steak, chicken, fish, or sausage no descriptions at all of what you would be getting), and a lot of appetizers. An extreme case of false advertising. Service was fabulous and staff were very nice.
The staff was great. The food was different, light, perfect. Simple but complex also. Nice way to sever up a modernize twist on seafood. Had an excellent time.
No sign labeled THE COASTAL outside, be on the lookout for 714 above the door, we almost missed it! Enjoyed this little restaurant. We did not make reservations but got lucky on the timing of our arrival, other incoming guests were not so lucky. We had the crab cakes, ahi tuna and Shrimp ala Plancha (the bread served within was a little charred but other than that no complaints!) We will definitely be back!
I had the Lobster Roll, $30. Almost no flavor. I think bring the only customer there must have bothered the staff. Oh well.
