Best KPortal Reviews

We only came here for the Sunday Roast, nothing else. Not many places in the city offer them, unfortunately.
Anyways, this was pretty alright. Boiled carrots and steamed peas, roasted potatoes that tasted like they’ve been under the heat lamp for a little while… pure mid food here. Beef was alright and the gravy was alright too. Not fresh horseradish. Also it was $33 + tax and tip. So like $40.
Might have better quality stuff somewhere else. It’s not like London, where a pub can dish out a solid roast.
Super cozy pub in New York! They have great drinks and the vibes are awesome. Definitely worth visiting, especially during Christmas
What a great place for any Brit! Loved the atmosphere and our server from Manchester! The steak and Ale Pie was delish. Just need to change the sides to just chips(Fries) and gravy. They missed the mark completely on the Pickled Onions. Just miniature cocktail onions. Was hoping for a real English pickled onion like Haywards!
Came in for their Traditional Sunday Roast and had scotch eggs and the roast beef and chicken.
The flavor of the scotch eggs was very good! The sausage was seasoned well with spices and herby flavors, but the yolk was too hard boiled for my personal tastes as it was hard boiled to being a bit crumbly. I think I would have preferred a jammier/runnier texture for the yolk. The egg itself also kinda easily popped out of the sausage casing as we cut into it. Again, flavor was good, I think it just lacked a bit on technical finesse.
The roasts were also very tasty, tho the veggies they came with felt a bit under seasoned. The beef had some parts where the collagen hadn't fully broken down, thus making it a bit chewier and harder to cut than I would have liked, but we came in earlier in the afternoon so it's possible the roast just simply hadn't had enough time yet. If someone were to order this perhaps a few hours after we dined, this wouldn't have been an issue. But overall the both chicken and beef roasts were quite good and the Yorkshire pudding was super light and flaky, perfect for mopping up the juices from the meat.
The "open late" "remember your name" local dive joint that you want to find. Mostly locals however don't be shy if you are just visiting either! Prices don't kill you and the drinks are legit. Rumor has it, you will find me there when I'm in the city (which is often)! See you there!
Very impressed!
I'm British and my father is Irish. Believe you me I've seem the worst of a pub.
This is a great tavern. It is what you want. Good beer. Good food. Good atmosphere. I can't believe I saw a review complaining about noise. It's a PUB. If you want a library go to a library.
I had the Curry Half and Half. Half chips, half rice. They brought me extra curry sauce.
The beer is poured properly.
Everything is clean.
Music is good without being too loud.
Honestly anyone moaning is deeply unhappy with life and the sort of people you don't want near you when you're out for an evening.
Booked a table for Christmas Day. Ordered 3 course meal. Nice and cosy with Xmas music in the background. Service was very quick. No long wait for a drink or food. The only criticism was that the Brussel sprouts were too hard needed a bit more cooking time.
I really like the ambience and decor, it's a beautiful little pub with a great selection of beers. I gotta admit though, the food was underwhelming, we ordered a burger and the shepherd's pie and they were both insanely salty. The Brussels sprout were watery, definitely needed to cook longer.
Last time we went there they were operating regular business but also had some big party celebrating something, these people were particularly annoying, they basically monopolized half the restaurant, standing sparsely around the entrance, getting in and out was complicated because of them, they were loud and annoying and acted like the restaurant was their own. They genuinely killed the vibe.
