We followed Timberbush day tour lead by Mr AndyS to Isle of Skye, and below are one of the stops.
As recommended by our tourist guide, we decided to try the famous fish and chips "The Chippy Portree". To our surprise, there was no dine in allowed. Serving within 15 minutes upon ordering.
Since we were forced to take away, we needed to find a place to eat. It was not an enjoyable experience to eat fish and chips at outdoor during winter -2 Celsius with sea breeze hit us gently.
Taste wise, the fish was a bit dry. It was thin in slice. But the taste was great. 4 stars.
The chips were fried using beef oil. A bit brownish colour and a bit burnt. Frankly speaking, we don't like this kind of chips. 1 star
Stopped of here for food, while I was in Portree. Decent little chippy, quick service. Chips were tasty and fresh
ALthough portion was not the biggest, they could have come with a few extra chips.
It was a rainy day.
We found this place and met a lovely lady.
She gave us a charming smile.
The fish and chips are excellent.
The chicken nuggets are crispy!
I highly recommend this place for having a quick lunch!
Great fish and chips for much less than the restaurants near. Quick and friendly service.
Such a lovely wee chippy - fish & chips were top tier. Service was great as well! Makes it even better the food is cooked in beef oil, just like how us Scots love it ????????
Worst. Burgers. Ever. Cheeseburger - cheap bun, frozen pre-fab patty, one slice plastic cheese square, no sauce, no lettuce, no pickles, nothing else. Chicken burger - cheap bun, patty of McNugget style fake chook, that’s it, nothing else. Chips sodden congealed mess cooked in beef fat/lard. Haven’t been able to have a burger in Scotland since- scarred me for life. I used to like burgers…. :(
the best fried food i’ve ever had + the chips were made just right! make sure to come in here when you’re around! Delicious 10/10
And as all fast food should be its takeaway, so be aware (they do have some outdoor tables tho, we sat on there)
It was the only place we could eat one night in Portree. Everywhere else you must have a reservation or be standing in line by 5pm.
The people that got the fish n chips in my group enjoyed it! I had the chicken nuggets which weren’t that good but it’s okay- that’s not what they are known for!
