Best KPortal Reviews

Tried a variety of foods, fish, prawns and loaded chips. The best was the loaded Cajun chips, more to it than I imagined! Would definitely go back for that. Only reason for 3 stars was for me, I found the batter too thick on the fish and the prawns. If it was lighter I would have enjoyed it more. Still I would return if in the area! Do like the outdoor seating area too.
Best Fish and Chips ever, highly recommend. Will be back, had Frickles (deep fried pickles), chips, curry sauce and vegan fish (banana blossom)
Best I have ever had, ate al fresco as the have seating available and also a park for little ones to play on whilst parents enjoy the food.
Have a traditional chip shop menu with items such as, fish, battered sausage but what is most impressive is that the also do street food.
My boyfriend and I came here on a really busy sunny day at the beach and we had excellent service and super friendly staff even though they were rushed off their feet. The food was delicious and the loaded chips were amazing! Not your regular chippy!
If I could put 0 stars I would!
What a waste of £24! We came to try the catch at cobbles for the first time today, we were first told a 10-15 minute wait which turned into 25 minutes.
When we got the food the disappointment was not over. We ordered an Irish curry sauce which was just like water and even tasted watery, which I took back to then find out this was the normal for the curry sauce (it didn’t even stick on the chips!!) they argued it was impossible for it to taste watery as it smelt so strong. They swapped it to the chip shop curry which was even worse! Yuck. The chips were extremely over cooked as if they’d been there for hours on end in the fryer, the batter on the fish was over cooked so that had to be taken off and the kids meal was soooo disappointing, all thrown into a box with no care no salt or vinegar, the chicken goujons were burnt and then they forgot the sauce packet which I had to go back for!
Do not waste your time or money coming here it was a complete and utter waste! Customer service was terrible.
Went in 3 people behind counter, 5 mins before anyone of them acknowledged me, to say they were very busy (poor)ordered fish chips round fried ball forget its content, and Irish sauce the fish well overcooked batter uneatable fish dried out , chips dry.Sauce so thin never seen that before, the cook who put that in the box knew it was poor quality, why let it go?not a cook that’s for sure anyone will do obviously , drove to where we were staying to eat, short distance to find this. You have stolen £17 of mine and would like a refund. Rang to an answer machine ( never off) a few times left message, nobody’s had the time to ring back , I would like my money back please, if want poor quality fish and chips this is the place for you
Ever since opening, we have been to The Catch at Cobbles a lot as they are the only fish and chip shop with vegan options for miles around.
It is usually quite busy and the staff were always friendly and as helpful as possible.
The only downside about here is that occasionally the food can be quite greasy and over-battered. This has only happened on a few occasions in all of our visits. The last 2 times we've visited, they've not had any Beyond Meat sausages available. Fortunately we live fairly locally so it wasn't an issue but if you are travelling from further afield, I would recommend calling to double check before making the trip.
The tempura veg is a personally favourite of ours as the kale always goes down a treat but the banana blossom and battered beyond sausage are also delicious. The chips are always cooked well too.
Overall, the food is great here and being able to take it down to Ogmore beach to enjoy the view. I recommend taking a trip down to the beach and grabbing some food on your way there.
Diabolical.
My order came to nearly £35. The fish goujon roll that is advertised on their website is nothing in comparison to what I was served. £8 for 3 pieces of dry scimpy fish goujons, a slither of tartar sauce and no lettuce ????. When I asked for curry and chips in a tray I was told they were running out of trays so couldn't have it. Alternatively I had to buy chips and curry seperate, I can't help but think this was a profit opportunity. However, I was delighted I didn't get it on my chips because the curry tasted like a pot noddle curry sauce. I've eaten many chip shop curry's and this is not close to anything I've tasted. 2.50 a pot and only half full. The chips were dry beyond belief. I was surprised as it was Saturday and a hot day, you would think they would have a continues supply of chips, although I do think from expierence, part of it is down to dirty oil. The bread rolls where tiger bread but stale. I've seen this business on social media for a while, travelled a fair distance and diverted from my original destination to go here. The quality for what they are charging is daylight robbery. I will be sure to avoid and make sure I let everyone else know to avoid too. Huge dissapointment.
My recent visit to The Catch was a complete letdown, marked by disappointment from start to finish. Despite shelling out a hefty £38 for two people, the quality of the food fell far short of expectations. The chips, touted as a side, were an abomination - so overcooked they bordered on charred, rendering them virtually inedible. Adding insult to injury, the fish portions were embarrassingly small, and the batter was also overcooked, leaving a bitter aftertaste. It's evident that The Catch prioritises profit margins over the satisfaction of its patrons. My advice? Spare yourself the disappointment and financial drain by seeking out a restaurant that genuinely values both your money and your taste buds.
