We went many years to this amazing place and this time we managed to watch the wheel in work! Such an amazing structure of strength and grace! Loading the boats into one lower side, then closing off that section with a partition, slowly rotating to get the boats up to the top, then opening the partition to let the boats out on the upper canal to go on their way to Glasgow! Brilliant! The park has expanded a lot. Loads for kids to do there - mini golf, playground, water fun. Little snack kiosk, but also a really nice café there for the more hungry, in a dome type of building where you can watch the wheel in action right next to you. Good place to go. Also saw dogs on leashes out with owners
Great place for a bite to eat & enjoy the view. So much to see. Would recommend it and a great day out for the whole family.
Nicely set up and allowing limited seating now with good views of the boat lifting operations of the wheel. Soup and sandwiches not worth the price however which was a shame but staff were helpful and nice with good precautions in place for a small menu presently on offer.
Took my baby daughter to the Falkirk wheel today, the cafe food wasn’t bad, there wasn’t any tables inside and balancing a pram and a tray was not easy, however they have a staff member in their cafe, Charlie, who displayed the best piece of customer service I’ve seen in many months. He recognised that even though there were half empty tables none of the other customers were bothering to offer. He took my tray and sorted us somewhere to sit and then brought us our cutlery, all with a pleasant disposition. Top man!
We took part in the chain of freedom event on Saturday 14th of October and went for some food. Having tried the trailer outside first and not really fancying the very limited choice of hot dogs or fries we headed for the cafe inside. We asked if they did cheeseburgers as there was none displayed on the menu. They checked and said yes they did. There was no indication of the price and only when we went to pay for 2 takeaway cheeseburgers, 1 fries and one can of soft drink did we find out the price, a staggering £30.45. I went off to the toilet and the meal had arrived, with thousand island dressing and mustard, both of which I dislike, no cheese and no ketchup. Horrible to say the least and inedible as far as I was concerned. Should we return to the wheel, we will take our own lunch for sure.
This our Saturday walk as we live local.always pop in for a coffee ,and always find the staff very pleasant and a good cup of coffee
Nice cafe with great views. Parking $$ is a walk away uphill.
Food variety limited but quality fine. A touch expensive, I don't recall paying £1.95 for a can of fizzy drink before.
