The owner wasnt there to meet me on arrival even though he had said I could arrive at 1300. On arrival met by a friendly workman who happened to be there, so a bit of a faff getting booked in. When I enquired as to what time breakfast was he said there isnt any! Kitchens being refitted! This was NOT on the website and neither had Edward Adams mentioned it to me in TWO emails that we had sent each other! I was livid as (beautiful as the location is, and normally would have been fine) having jsut come past Leighton Buzzard I then had to go back into Leighton Buzzard after a long journey to get breakfast! I have requested a refund, and I I was so disgusted I left a day early.||As to the room itself, well I cannot really fault it - apart from perhaps a higher chair - or lower mirror so that one can blow dry ones hair etc. A full length mirror would have been a nice touch too. Nice and clean, good walk in large shower (although the head was too high for the average person as I had to stand on tip toe (in a wet shower!) to change its direction). Bed comfiest I have slept in other than my own.||Such a shame that all that was marred by hardly any reception despite arranged and no breakfast!
It says on google they are open until 1am. Paid for a booking and no-one was there. Arrived at 9pm. There is no one to answer emails or phone. Scam avoid. No way of getting refund. This is a terrible booking process and if you want toi risk throwing your money away book this
I stopped here with a work collegue for a single night, wish it could have been longer! Usually, I stay in hotels during the week but just for once I fancied a change. The location is great, the gardens border the canal so the scenery is beautiful. My room was lovely, comfortable bed, wet room shower etc. The breakfast the next morning was continetal style and self service, no problem there!| Our evening meal was takeaway. The Brownlow is a very short drive to either the village of Ivyinghoe with chinese and pizza takeaways or Leighton Buzzard in the other direction with a huge choice of eat in's or take aways. | Without a doubt I will stay here again when working in Leighton Buzzard!
I stayed for 1 night. The owner was very welcoming and had provided a varied DIY breakfast with fresh milk in the fridge. He also brought a clothes drier on request. Comfortable room in a pleasant, quiet location next to the Grand Union Canal.
Used this as our overnight stay when walking the Grand Union canal.
The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and easily accommodated 3 men using an extra bed.
No restaurant or bar but the owner keeps an array of cereals, break, milk and other essentials in a communal kitchen for guests to use and pay what you like in to an honest box.
Same with the wine. We cracked open a bottle and watched the boats go by on the canal in the evening sunshine.
Pleasant stay and highly recommended.
Love it! Great clean place, loads of freedom (help yourself to cereal, toast, tea, coffee). There's an honesty box for when you fancy a bottle of wine too! Beautiful location. Ed is a lovely, chilled host too. Thoroughly recommended!
We stayed here a few years ago and remembered the lovely rooms. Light, bright and spacious. Those are still the same but guest services are no nonexistent. ||Main issue is with access (we weren't sure which was are room or how to get into it) and breakfast which used to be staffed, but is now a keycode controlled 'service kitchen' rather akin to a student digs, in terms of hygiene. Help yourself to bread, pastries, cereal but watch the expiry dates on the yogurts! We washed our plates and the others in the sink...
A one-night stopover between Cambridge and Wiltshire. It was a mistake, although the pictures do make it look good. Slightly grim rooms, slightly fierce lady running it, average breakfast, somewhat overpriced for what it is. Location on a canal is nice but it's also by a bridge with a traffic light so you face regular revving engines as people speed off. I have a feeling all the rooms back onto that road so there' no getting away from it. Not too close to anywhere decent to eat so we drove to a local pub (Alford Arms) which was enlivened by Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones calling by.
