Chips were okay,shame once I’d got home the rest of my order wasn’t there; not going to make a trip back for a battered sausage,also whilst in the shop, I asked for curry sauce, which was forgotten and has to ask again. Looks like this has happened before reading previous reviews. Maybe some staff training.
This place must be raking it in, basically paid £10 for some chips
Usually go to Whetstone but chose to go here tonight out of FOMO. Big mistake. The regular chips we ordered were just enough for a child’s portion and they were borderline uncooked, the battered sausage was a cocktail sausage, the fish was extremely soggy/mushy and the kebab meat was hard. The only thing that came warm was the curry sauce - which was surprisingly nice. Couldn’t have been worse… definitely won’t bother again, curiosity killed the cat.
The portions they offer are definitely quantity over quality. It's as if they prioritize filling on portion size rather than focusing on the actual taste of the food.
Another disappointment was the battered sausage. Way to small.
The staff was friendly and the place was clean, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the shortcomings in the food.
We bought from here on Monday lunchtime 13/11/23 and I have never seen anything so poor in my life. The fish had thick batter that was rock hard, not crispy, but so hard it was difficult to break in to. The fish inside had to be scraped out and was very thin and dry. It was so bad I didn’t eat any of it. Even my dogs wouldn’t eat it. For the price charged it’s disgraceful and disgusting. If the weather had been better I’d have taken it back. We use Whetstone usually but they were closed. I will remember to never buy fish from Blaby chippy ever again.
Ordered ch/m pie, chips, fish cake, battered sausage, mini fish, half fried chicken and curry sauce. Got home mini fish and fish cake missing! Called them up, explained what was missing tbf they said come back to collect it. No apology ! On arrival the owner said the young boy who served you put it in your bag. It must have fell out in your car, have you checked your car ? I thought how rude and embarrassing, like I was trying to try and get a free fish and fish cake. I wouldn’t even waste the petrol ! The food was left on the counter for me to pick up with again no apology ! this is your error, yes you gave us what we paid for and free chips and curry sauce but the service was terrible. When you make a mistake own it and deal with it without blaming the customer who did nothing wrong ! Get a grip guys… you’ll be loosing customers if you don’t buck your ideas up from the state of your reviews, which I’ve only just seen today but I can understand why… disgusting service and attitude. Where’s your integrity as a business?
I’ve been coming to this chippy for a few weeks now, the food varies the chips sometimes taste off cardboard and the pies taste like they’ve been reheated but something that is consistently tasty is the fish. From a customer service point of view, every week I normally have this really nice smiley girl, she was so lovely and while she was a bit slower than the others she was so nice. But for the past two weeks I’ve not seen her and hear she no longer works there. So now I’m served by a girl who looks so sad and down, it’s clear management don’t look after her. But it annoys me because it seems this business is more about the money than there customer service and there staff. They only do take out food despite having a table they can put up as I remember the days of sitting there. They have a high price for some meh food but I went because it’s not to far away and the customer service was really nice. I’m not sure if I’ll return as it was nice to walk through the door and asked how my days was and be met with smiles but it seems things have turned down hill.
Previously we’ve had good experiences here but the quality of tonight’s food means we’ll never return. Undercooked chips and really thin, dry, stale tasting fish which was mostly batter. The best thing was the curry sauce. Very efficient staff but no idea why people are queuing up for this poor quality food. The prices have gone up and the quality down. Very disappointing.
Love the cod and chips here! We go here instead of our local chip shop. The cod is a very good size, the large is plenty big enough to share between two. The batter is super-crispy, and the cod is skinless, so you get to eat all the crispy batter without having to try to scrape the skin off! So far, not had a bad fish & chips from here. Well cooked and super-tasty. Can recommend.
