Best KPortal Reviews

A comfortable and warm respite following a bike ride around Carsington Water.
Easily missed at the top of the very well kept village. Ale poured from the jug, and enjoyed next to the open fire.
This was an amazing experience. We walked in the rain especially to visit this pub. The sign is missing, however, it's in the same courtyard/ drive as the shop. It reminded me of my local pub in the 1970's when I was a teenager. Absolutely brilliant. No pumps, no jukebox, no fruit machine, just good cider, lager etc. The beer is brought up from the cellar in a jug. You MUST visit . ...make sure to order a scotch egg on Saturday!!! They only make 12 , when they've gone, they've gone!!. My only suggestion to the owners, please have some sandwiches, nothing flashy, just simple stuff to have alongside the crisps and beers ???? ???? We will be back ????.
What can I say the Barley Mow Inn is an incredibly beautiful place to stay. Just the building and gardens on their own are stunning. When you add high quality bed linen and a breakfast that would put most 5* hotels to shame, it makes it the perfect location to explore the Peak District. Rachel and Henry are incredible hosts and so helpful and made our stay perfect. We can’t wait to return.
We stopped here for drinks. It's a wonderful little pub with a real fire. Been in here many times in the past and it's always a great experience. We would have stayed for dinner but they didn't have a vegetarian option.
What an amazing pub. All the beer is served from pitchers filled from kegs in the cellar. Like a pub from 200 years ago. Such a beautiful friendly village too!
A great place to stay in the Peak District. The inn has three very comfortable and well appointed rooms in a converted stable next to the four-century-old pub - the sign outside had fallen off when we visited but it is the heart of the little village of Kirk Ireton and everyone knows it. A welcoming local with excellent ales, it is open Wednesday to Sunday but last orders can be early (9.30 on a Saturday night!). Very good full English breakfast.
Visited on a Sunday lunchtime, sadly food wasn't being served until 6.30pm. But made up for by a wide choice of ales, and a warm, inviting fire in the snug room.
Not obviously a pub, from the outside (the sign on the tree has fallen), it's next door to the village community shop. Worth a visit.
This pub has been on my watchlist for a VERY long time, well worth the wait. Stripped back olde worlde pub with oodles of character, is from another age. Hand pulled beers served from a jug, cheese boards are a delight. Service we got was SO friendly, felt like we'd been going for years. It's definitely a Destination pub, just soak in its character. If able I would give it 10 stars! Enjoy. M
