We took shelter from a horrible winter’s day in Taunton in the Somerset Bakery.
The staff were infinitely patient while my children took an AGE to decide which cakes they wanted. I don’t think it would have mattered which they chose, everything looked delicious.
We enjoyed savoury, and sweet options as well as pots of tea, whilst watching the rain pour down outside.
If you’re in Taunton, and need a snack, this is a two minute walk on from Gregg’s - towards the river.
Cake time ????
What an excellent little cake and bakery shop. Has seats for earing in and stools / bar to look over the river to have your morning cake and coffee. Reasonable pricing and has customer toilets for paying customers. Would recommend this place
Avoid this bakery in Taunton town centre! We've visited here a couple of times since moving to the area for a quick spot of lunch whilst in town but last weekend was the final time.
Sloppy staff with poor customer service skills - the staff took the wrong payment and tried to overcharge us for our small meal. The cakes are not appetizing at all and are bland! We ordered a pasty for lunch but was served completely the wrong one. When we mentioned this the staff members seemed clueless and couldn't care less.
Looking for a cafe for a spot of tea/coffee, cake or some lunch in Taunton? Avoid this one and look elsewhere in town. Other options are much better and more professional.
Nice place. Smells like a Bakery, but no croissants or Pain au Chocolate. They are missing a trick.
Coffee at Caffè Nero pricing! Not cheap
While I do understand that businesses have struggled through covid and may have had to increase prices as a result I do find £2.40 for doughnut rather expensive. I also felt the place was a little lacking in comfort, it felt cold here not just in temperature but not cosy.
A good bakery come cafe offering tasty food for a reasonable price. Its style is fairly modern but not uncompromisingly up to date. Of the three staff manning the counter I was most impressed with the youngest girl, the other two older woman were a tad crotchy. I ordered a drink advertised on the counter which they were without the knowledge to make and resulted in a bit of flappigg about and questioning of me. The drink was lovely but maybe a bit more staff training required as I'm afraid it cost you that fifth star, shame.
Very good service. We ate in lovely food and coffee. We took away some bread and cakes too. Will be back again
Lovelly place with good food.
Last visit was on a very cold day and all the windows were soaking wet inside, indicating a lack of ventilation.
