The staff are spectacular, the tea takes you back to childhood, the fries are phenomenal, the rolls are fresh and delicious and the donuts outcrisp Krispy Kremes... fresh and fantastic food and a cosy nostalgic atmosphere that will take you back through happy memories! Thanks for a great lunch!
I always forget this little cafe exists, popped in as I was in the area and got lovely little steak pie, delicious meat and gravy and took some Christies baked goods away. Next time I'm nearby I'll sit in for some breakfast, it's a lovely old fashioned aesthetic. Staff were very friendly.
I received a call yesterday. The woman rudely hung up on me today when I called back. I’m assuming a nuisance or harassing call then. Based on that I would not go here.
I got 2 hot pies from this establishment today at lunch time the gravy came pouring out and has gave me burns on my lips and face
Resulting in blistering I went back in to the shop. And was told that the pies have to be 85 And checked with a prod , think you should warn your customers about this when they buy anything hot from you hey never in my life have I been burned so badly eating food , I shall be taking this further

Was in this shop this am. I have NEVER been refused service in any shop far less a bakers. The staff were handling food with their bare hands, which frankly, I found quite off putting. Even without the restraints of the pandemic, I have never come across any retailers doing this. I asked why they don’t use tongs or wear gloves but was told the are told by health and safety what to do. I very much doubt that H&S have told them not to use tongs or gloves. When I said I’ve never been in a shop that handles food with their bare hands, when one of the assistants piped up “well, I’ve been in millions of shops that do this”. This is one busy woman if she has indeed visited ‘millions’ of shops. I assume the woman who was sitting at a table was the manager, she said they use hand gel, when I said they were handling money which is one of the most bacteria laden things in everyday use. Then she said “we can only do what H&S tell us.” Then added ‘well we’re not serving you’ I left, rather relieved. Some hand gels are overpowering both in smell and taste if you happen to put a finger in your mouth. I will NEVER be back in this shop again. Hygiene seems an alien concept here.
The shop is always clean, its constantly winning awards for its food and hygiene the staff are friendly, welcoming and inviting and the atmosphere is relaxing, the food is also great. You always feel at home eating at Bakers Oven. Beware the reviewer Helen below who owns a rival food business and is constantly bad mouthing and making false reports about the staff at Bakers Oven. She's known in the village as a bit of a fruit loop.
