What a lovely place to eat. So nice to be able to walk in on a Sunday lunchtime and ask for a table and get it! Lively atmosphere of families and other diners. Service was speedy. Two friendly ladies brought us our meals. Sadly no beef roasts but the pork was tasty. Would definitely recommend.
I haven't been here for a while due to poor health. It's good to see a crowd, upstairs and in the bar. I couldn't stay out long enough to listen to the band but it looked like they had several fans.
Had a very enjoyable meal with friends. Excellent food and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely cozy feeling with an open fire. Highly recommended.
Has a warmth and comfort of a traditional hotel + public house, but visibly has suffered the pub chain modernization - from digital advertising board in the foyer to 'Oak furniture land' -esque functional but characterless furniture.
If you weren't aware of the 'Sunday Roast', nothing on the menu would have alerted you to it. A friendly and hospitable manager, but inexperienced waiting staff.
The Sunday Roast was excellent and the Chicken Caesar Salad was 'highly commended'. An good pint of Arkells IPA smoothed over all the failings.
The final failure was by the waitress: a failure to ask for a 'gratuity'. Maybe we don't all want to add 10% to the Sunday lunch, but it has just about become standard in UK hospitality! I guess it's a challenge for a hotel/pub to work out whether you are / aren't going to look for 'tips / gratuities', but if not, probably worth saying so, or just having a tips jar!

A beautiful and homely pub in the heart of Royal Wooton Basset. We were here for a wedding in their rooms upstairs. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the rooms were perfect for what was needed out of the occasion. A lovely atmosphere to the building and the environment.
I stay here regularly, lovely place and great staff. Always friendly and accommodating. Love the breakfast ????
