What a lovely little pub.
Great atmosphere ,loads of banter with the locals
If you are passing. Call in !
Went a couple of weeks ago for 3 or 4 drinks before our fish n chips from next door.
Great service & the landlord treated our little Eddie border terrier like a king by pulling out treat after treat.
Nice choice of ales & wines
Family of five (3 children between 5yrs & 10yrs) had a very delicious Sunday roast dinner with a choice of perfectly cook meat, excellent crispy roast potatoes, great selection of fresh vegetables, perfect portions. Great service. Value for money. Full up.
It is fairly difficult to leave a genuine terrible review as certain words and phrases do not beat the censor. This is a minus review, as many minuses as there are stars in the sky. This is a local pub for local people, not that the locals are unfriendly but the landlord makes a wicker man out of strangers on Sundays. I will attempt to use a type of cockney slang to beat the censors. The landlord threatened to bill me in no joking terms beacause i asked for change to play his Root McQueen which is about as unfriendly as you get without him playing dueling banjos from behind the bar. I am not the only commenter to notice his unfriendlyness but id warrant no one has had it more extreme. This man is a right James Hunt and and Eartha Kitt to boot. This pub opens at odd times probably because of slow trade probably due to the landlord in no small part, he seems to have lost the will a long time ago. Positive reviews here can only be from the most local of locals afraid of the landlord barring them from the only pub in Mistley, (i believe) though there are others not too far away or perhaps they arrived on a day when the landlord was regenerating.
Luckily he is about 75 so with any luck there will be a vacancy soon....
This pub is NOT open the published hours! Check before you go, landlady wasn't very receptive to my suggestion of her checking external advertising!
All pubs matter, except for this one. Unfriendly publican, makes people feel unwelcome. Apparently he's planning to make the locale into two houses anyhow, but still...awful service.
A great little pub, lovely sunday lunches, and dog friendly too ( they even get fed !)????????
Small quirky old fashioned pub in Mistely. Very limited drink selection. Has a dartboard though.
