We did the 2h tasting tour and were not disappointed. The tour of the distillery itself was fairly standard, but the tasting of 6 different Taliskers afterwards was really good. The tasting took more than an hour and gave you a good impression of the different types of Talisker whiskey that they have on offer. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and enlivened the event with funny stories. The tasting is good value for money, too, including both the 25yo and 18yo. Plus you get to keep a glass.
One bit of advice: book ahead online or by phone a few days in advance. There is only one tasting tour per day and they fill up fast.
Book in advance! It may be very crowded during high season.
Groups are restricted to a maximum of 16 people.
- A small tour costs £10 (45min).
- A medium tour costs £25 (At noon on weekdays, 1.5h, tasting)
- Tasting tour £40 (At 1:30pm, weekdays, 2h)
This place was awesome and it has such an amazing history. We were a long way from home trying to find the best whiskey on the planet. Talisker was one of our first stops. The staff was great, we got to taste a few different types of whiskey. I learned here that I need to add water to bring out the flavor. We bought a couple of bottles on our way out. It was a great time here taking the tour.
Very, very 'let's get this over with' attitude from the guide. I have participated in the tours at both the Oban and Bunnahabhain distilleries recently, and the guides did a far better job there. We all know that you as a guide do the same thing many times a day. But it is also part of your job not to show it.
Very kind and helpful staff. We booked our tour online but unfortunately we’re not able to take the tour because we had a 2 year old with us. The staff kindly refunded our tickets and then proceeded to setup a free tasting for us. You can’t ask for better service than that!
Not too long and very interesting
A little visit very interesting with humour of the distillery, to understand how they make whisky.
There is a little degustation at the end, just a shame there is not much explanation about how try whisky.
A fantastic tour! Very informative and the guide (Mike) was a brilliant host. The tasting afterwards was amazing. Truly something I will remember from my trip.
Great tour by our boy Joe. I now know how I can make my own whisky. We had the flight tasting after which was great. Booze.
