Please stay away from Sutton & Co. They are nice and always available but only before you make a payment. As soon as they have your money, it will be difficult to get in touch with them. They have misled us from the beginning and now refusing to refund our payment. Several emails were sent - no respond, their phone is either busy or goes to voice message. We had consulted our lawyer and the case is ready for submission. Just wonder how this company can operate in the UK? They are 100% fraud !!!! We will report them to all possible regulatory bodies. Shame on you, Sutton & co. You have simply robbed us!! In our next feedback, we will mention the names of all members of this company we dealt with , so other people will be aware!!!!
If I could give no stars I would. Do not deal with this company!! Yes, we got a reduction but all the money we should have received was clawed back by the council as a "transitional premium" of which there was no mention of the possibility of this happening in Suttons paperwork. This should be included on their terms and conditions by law in my opinion but Suttons don't tell you anything about this.Our business has now permanently closed because of COVID so we wont even benefit this year. It has cost us over £7,000 in fees and commissions and we are now out of pocket. No contact form Suttons as they don't answer the phone or their emails and no explanation for this, we had to contact the council to find out about it. I have also just checked the VAT number that they display on their invoice on the Government website to find they are charging VAT without a valid VAT number!- I am currently reporting them to HMRC. Disgraceful company.
I instructed this company in 2019, once I had paid them money I never heard anything more from them. I chased them up asking if they needed more info but they just said they’d get in touch if they needed anything. I never heard from them again or the valuation office at all . I’m a sole trader & only through desperation paid this company as their promises to help were so encouraging & my rates are so high. I can’t believe they just take money off people like this. Not sure how they sleep at night.
Needless to say all emails now just bounce back & I can’t get in contact with them.

The director of this company is also the rates assessor for Parker Mills who have recently been to review our company with the intention of reducing our rates. We paid over our money and now they are uncontactable in any way and their website no longer exists. I believe Bernie Baird is the common denominator that links a number of different companies together and they are all participating in fraudulent rate reduction activity. The VOA, HMRC, Companies House and Action Fraud should all be working together to stop this individual taking money from unsuspecting businesses. What is so frustrating is that when he is reported nothing is done to stop him trading. He just changes the business name or puts another name as the director.
We are extremely disappointed as we paid over £1400 back in Oct 2019 to have our rates reviewed, since then we have received zero contract from Sutton and Co, or any detail on our appeal. No one has ever answered the phone, and our emails come back blocked, we would highly advise anyone not to use this company, and we are going to pursue this further, and it feels like a criminal service!!
Over a year on now council rates reduction, paid a £1000, had a survey and nothing since, had to set up a direct gov account etc so all seems correct and above board, email and phoned numerous times, told I would get a call back but guess what? Now the phone number doesn’t work. Save your money and find another company, this one looks to be a bad egg. Edit-Turns out after all this I went and filled a form out, sorted my rates within three days, got my reduction and wish I never listened to these people. Do it yourself! Seems I was had, never got anything from this company but false promises (Edited 6/02/2020)
Signed the contract with them on 27th Feb , Paid over £1400 to them. The check and reveiw was closed on 4th June. The rateable value was changed from £27500-£25000 (was told the correct amount should be around £12000). From 4th June to 3rd September. They promise to send the chanlenge form out at least 5 times, It never happen. I have spoke to the valuation office they confirm they havent received. This compnay only answer your phone before you made the payments. During past few months I called them at least 30 times, They never answer the phone. Then I tried to contact them by email. Normally you will get one reply when every you sent email three times. After three months waiting, I dont want to waste any more time with this company. Now I have to find another compnay to take over the case.
Totally rubbish company, waste time and money. Will take them to court shortly. If anybody is looking for agence to deal with business rate , please do your own research before paying. This company wont answer your call after got your money. That is my honesty advise!
I run a busy bar in Bolton and contacted Sutton and co, after a visit from an assessor I was delighted to find out that my business rates were based on incorrect turnover figures and appealed immediately.
I’m pleased to say we received a sizeable reduction in our business rates and a rebate to boot
