Best KPortal Reviews
I had the displeasure of staying at this hell hole this weekend and I have to say that it is both worst hotel, and the worst value for money hotel I’ve ever stayed in. This hotel is very very tired. Wall paper peeling off the walls, untidy paintwork, worn out fraying carpets and the place is not very clean. The rooms are awful and look like they were furnished badly courtesy of the local charity shop, sometime during the 1980s. No curtains in the room, only a broken five quid light blue roller blind that looks like it’s first home was in a bathroom. The photos of the rooms online bear no resemblance to the room I stayed in and it did remind me of a scabby B&B I stayed in on a Blackpool trip 30 years ago. The bathroom was shocking. Not filthy but just old. The shower had no pressure and the taps hardly worked. The radiator was rusty. It’s a shame I didn’t read the reviews and take note of the rating before I booked. What I did find quite funny was the buy who checked us in tried to act as if he was checking us into the Ritz in London or a place like that. Talking all posh and like a robot with no emotion like they do This raised our expectations and we were in for a treat yet 30 seconds later I’m standing in absolutely the worst hotel room I’ve ever been in.
. The included in the £260 two night rate breakfast was ok. However the tight lot did suggest we paid extra for a latte and even watered the orange juice down. The guy in the bar was pleasant and he provided the only decent thing I had there and that was a lovely cold bottle of corona.
Lovely meal in this cosy restaurant. Food and service were both delightful. Thank you. Will be back!
I've been staying here for 5 weeks with work (2 to go) and I cannot fault anything.
The staff are really friendly, the rooms are nice and the breakfast is fantastic.
Had some drinks in the bar, also can't fault this.
Nice central location, easy to access car parking, ideal place to stay and I highly recommend
Thank you to all the staff, you've been great!!
Room not worth the £200 a night was ok but had a lot better for the price
Plenty of space out the front to park and unload with a private car park to the rear with a literal minute walk to the rear of the hotel, where you walk into a lovely courtyard and beer garden. Staff were super helpful and friendly and willing to go above and beyond going as far as to lend us their fan to help keep us cool as we stayed during a heatwave, lovely old building with decor to match. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding made for 2 nights of amazing sleep, only minor problem was the beds were not zipped together to create the double so they did shift slightly throughout the night but did not affect the quality of the stay or sleep at all. Breakfast was some of the best cooked breakfasts I've ever had with super helpful waiting staff who couldn't do enough for you. Great location in the middle of Oakham easy walking distance to all restaurants and bars in the area as well as the Oakham castle hall. Check in was made super easy and entertaining by the lovely man working who couldn't do enough to help, he made us aware of the market going on in the morning and of things nearby to go to. Overall an amazing experience and stay, my partner and i are already talking about booking again.
This is a fabulously quaint coaching Inn. I've been staying here on and off for 14 years and I love it! Great central location with car parking a short walk away. A little old fashioned, but for me, that's part of the charm. The bar, with its open fire is a wonderful place to relax on a winters evening and over the years, all the staff I've met have been brilliant!
A cosy, warm, Christmasy atmosphere. Lovely fire burning away in the lounge area. 8 of us came for a late lunch. We thought they would say 'too late, sorry' but no, the chef said yes, and they welcomed us in! We were all very satisfied with our choices. All the staff were super friendly. Thank you all very much and wish you all a very happy new year ????
We stayed for the night at this 17th Century Inn with dinner & breakfast included.
Our room was big, quiet looking over the front shops square carpark with a comfy big bed.
It had a tv, a heater & a spacious bathroom with shower over bath & lots of hot water.
The staff were very professional, polite & the hotel was very clean.
This is quite a big hotel with winding hallways in all directions finding some antiques here & there.
The dining room was nice with romantic laid out tables & the food was amazing with nice size portions in a master chef style which was a bargain for what we paid for on a Sunday night.
We slept well on full tummies & we enjoyed our good choice of breakfast & left happy.
We will return again in the near future.
The car park is at the back of the building on the side road, the 3rd entrance.
