Stopped in for a snack. The staff is so friendly and the cake slices were gigantic and were the best cake we've had in a long while! Moist cake crumb, good frosting, ripe fruit and rich without being too sweet. (Didn't try the fish and chips but they also smelled delicious!)
Delicious lunch on a chilly and damp day. The butternut squash stew (vegan) was perfect with a pot of tea. My husband really enjoyed his lunch of hash with a fried egg on top. Of course, we had to have a slice of cake to share to finish the meal.
A nice sunny day to have lunch. Chose here to sit outside with dog. Had the tuna melt and salad very nice and tasty very polite staff even brought fresh water for the dog. We had excellent brewed tea and then cake after. The portion size is large be warned but very nice with the tea. Would recommend to visit

We ordered lunch here and were disappointed all around. The tap water we ordered was served in a questionable bottle, which on closer inspection seemed to have a black mould film growing inside on the bottom, as if it had been forgotten/unwashed in a long time.
The “fresh” seafood chowder served with “freshly baked bread” tasted like a chicken gravy (no veg or texture of any sort), which had a whole piece of white fish placed on top (which hadn’t been deveined) with some mussels.
My friend ordered a vegan lentil and butternut squash stew, that was obviously bought and reheated. Looked like a poor-quality frozen meal from a budget grocery.
Sweet potato fries from my chicken sandwich were good, but the breaded chicken tasted like it had been overly cooked and perhaps in the freezer too long. All and all I felt I massively overpaid for a meal I would never eat myself had I prepared it at home.
I wish this place all the best and hope they can come up with a better lunch menu in the future where they aren’t misleading/ripping-off their customers.

Friendly cafe in a good location. Portions were generous and the quality of food was amazing. I had a beef and Stilton sandwich, it was stuffed to the brim and the beef melted in my mouth. I'd say the hand-cut fries were the cherry on the cake but the cake was the cherry on the cake. All around great value.
Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The service was quick, fish was cooked while we waited. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The portions were substantial.
I would come again next time I'm in town.
Hands down the best cake I’ve ever had. Also ordered the fish n chips and fried chicken with fries. They were really good for a small place like that. The green haired lady was friendly and courteous.
