We had an excellent experience at Starfish on Wednesday. We weren't sure what to do for dinner so we hadn't made any reservation but me, my husband and our toddler were made to feel very welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. Our daughter had the Venison meatballs starter which was brought out as soon as they were ready (always a huge plus point to keep her occupied!), I hade the fish pie special and my husband had the plaice and we had a portion of chips to share. All portions sizes were great and food was piping hot. All of the fish was very fresh and the staff were very helpful and attentive but also not over bearing. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Extremely good food at a fair price. Thanks for having us ????
The best meal from start to finish that we all agreed upon that we had in our entire 10 day trip. The service was the best and hospitality was amazing.
Very pleasant lunch. Homely service as its family run. Ambitious, well done but some improvement can be made
The good points, atmosphere very nice, great decor, friendly, large selection of seafood, from shellfish to whole fish hot and cold platters available. Right in the middle of Tarbert. Very pretty location.
Delicious oysters, whitebait, and superb lobster. All so fresh.
The needing improvements in my opinion are gritty scallops, undercooked langoustines, tiny portion of chips, and poor house champagne.
I would still go back and recommend Starfish restaurant.
We had a nice dinner at the Starfish. Obviously fish was delicious, pairing wines too. Staff was professional and friendly. Wasn’t too expansive, so it’s a plus :-)
Just been for one of the best meals I have had in a long time, food was fantastic, had mussels for main course, never seen so many mussels on a plate and so fresh, would highly recommend this place to anybody coming to tarbert
We came here for dinner on our stay over in Tarbert and it ended up being one of the best meals on our trip. The restaurant itself is lovely and cosy, yet a good size. There was a great selection of specials on offer and we had the langoustines and scallops to start, followed by sea bass and monkfish for mains. Whilst the langoustines were great, the star of the show were the venetian scallops. They were cooked perfectly, but had such a great flavour to them. I could have eaten another plate no problem. The monkfish had a lovely sundried tomato sauce, which was superb. A perfect balance of savoury and salty. Both mains were great, and the wine selection was good at reasonable prices. We didn't have desert so I am not sure how they were but they looked good from seeing others. If I'm ever back in Tarbert I know where I'll be going for dinner
Fantastic lunch. Very nice owners who know their stuff. Will be sure to stop in Tarbert again for another visit.
Food was some of the best fish I've ever had. The Cullen skink was seasoned perfectly and the seafood linguini was faultless; very well done chef! The lady who looked after me was very friendly and attentive, a real asset to the business. Would give 6 stars if I could!
