My Gran and 3G are the best at looking after people and they provide the best food ever and I would happily pay to stay with them and when I meet customers they tell me how great Isabel and Greme are and that they would come again. I never have trouble falling asleep upstairs and is great fun to go to the beach for a day and mess around. I really recomend staying at the Solas B&B as they provide and care for everyone who walks throught there door.
Lovely hosts. Great location. Very accomodating at 8pm in the evening when we were due to be staying in a tent but the Scottish weather had other plans!Breakfast was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Very reasonably priced. Beautiful house and stunning views. Will return thanks again
On our roadtrip NC500 we’ve visited Gairloch and the B&B of Isabell and Graeme. What a lovely en friendly couple, we’ve enjoyed the chit chat; and off course their hospitality. Their house is beautifull situated looking over the sea and the rooms was spacious enough for our stay. We’ve had a good dinner at the nearby campsite. We strongly recommend to have a stay at Solas!
Stayed here for a weekend as my husband was taking part in a pottery course nearby , and the B & B had been recommended by guests staying at our B & B that had also stayed here. The B & B is located overlooking Big Sands and with stunning views out to sea and the mountains . The B & B is very modern and all the rooms were bright and clean, We were in a downstairs room and it was lovely that you can open the sliding doors to be able to sit on the verandah. It might have been nice to have had some form of dividers though ( maybe pots with large plants/ shrubs) as we were very aware of being close to neighbouring guests room. The facilities in the room were very good, comfy mattress and very quiet to sleep. Only a small few issues: curtains were very light so the sun shone through very early and woke me up, slightly odd not to have a door key to be able to lock the door when you went out or overnight, shower took a little while to work out and it was strange to be asked did we want a cooked breakfast but not told or shown a menu with ingredients to know what we were choosing. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and had a long chat with us before settling into our room. Very easy to drive into Gairloch to get an evening meal. Breakfast was in the main kitchen/lounge area sat around a communual table, again hosts's very chatty and made to feel very much at home. Breakfast was well cooked and tasted great , plenty of toast and a small choice of cereals and yogurts. Think they were actually too cheap for the facilities provided , would have happily paid more for the room. Would recommend the B & B and would happily stay there again
A beautiful location off the beaten track with wonderful unobstructed ocean views.||||The hosts were very friendly and took the time to chat with us upon arrival and during breakfast.||||The scottish breakfast consisted of the items we individually chose. It’s nice to have a warm, freshly off the stove breakfast. ||||The rooms were spacious and felt light and airy. The double ensuite room had direct access to the patio overlooking the ocean. The twin room was upstairs and had angled ceilings matching the roofline but I was easily able to move about the room. The skylights provided lots of natural light with views from one side out to the ocean as well. Blinds helped darken the room for sleeping. The large ensuite, with tub, was not directly connected to the twin room but was across the walkway.||||Wish we had arrived earlier in the day and been able to stay longer to enjoy all this B&B plus surrounding area had to offer.
This B&B is excellent, Peter made us feel at home from the moment we walked through the door. Our room was spotless and large. If you're staying more than one night, which we'd recommend as there is so much to do and see, have a meal in. It's not expensive and Peter is an excellent cook, you just have to let him know in advance. It's a short walk into Shieldaig itself, very, pretty with a lovely little pub. Breakfasts at Solas are also excellent and accompanied by Peter's homemade preserves. Lisa has does some beautiful prints and cards also which make excellent souvenirs. It's an excellent base for Applecross and Torridon.
We stayed for 1 night at Solas B&B. Our room and ensuite bathroom were clean and spacious. Our room overlooked Big Sand and had ocean views which we were unable to take advantage of due to limited time and the weather, however our room had access to a deck area with chairs provided and it would be lovely to sit on there on a nice day. Isobel makes a delicious full Scottish breakfast. The accommodation is a few minutes drive from the town. Thank you Isobel and Graeme for a wonderful stay.
