A real accidental find. Was staying at the Premier Inn up the road and drove into the village of Alnwick for something to eat.
The place was quiet but it was a Sunday night. I ate upstairs in the restaurant and the 2 waiters were efficient and polite.
The onion bhajis were obviously fresh and were crispy on the outside and unctuous on the inside.
I orders Chicken Tikka Dansak which was nice. Not the best I've ever eaten..in my opinion it lacked any lentils and it was a little mild for my taste but I'm being fussy.
The bill was about £28 for starter, main and a large Kingfisher beer.
Definitely recommend this Indian if you're in the area.
Simply unbelievable. Visited for the first time on friday 25th Jan. greeted by excellent staff at the door and shown straight to a table (luckily we got in as it was fully booked but we arrived as soon as it opened). Great menu which is extremely well priced. We went for popadoms and pickles, bhuna king prawn on puri, mixed kebab starters which were all cooked perfectly with amazing spice levels and flavour. For mains we went for a lamb tikka mossala (which is the best tasting mossala sauce we have ever tasted and the lamb was so tender) and a mixed meat jalfrezi, again, cooked to perfection. Special rice, special naan and garlic chips. Without a doubt the best meal we have ever eaten and fantastic service to match. If i could rate higher than 5 stars i would easily! Highly recommended
Fun family evening out at Sherkan Of Alnwick. We shared starters and ordered main courses plus drinks. Reasonably priced for four people. The quality of the food and the service was first class, we were well looked after. Everything we ordered arrived promptly, there was no excessive waiting so we could enjoy our dinner. We arrived quite early for a 5:30pm. booking and were there for roughly one and half hours when it was packed out. Great atmosphere, nice place to relax with family or friends and stunning window views of the town. I'm certain we will choose Sherkhans again!

Tried out this restaurant on the basis of the reviews, and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff, cosy ambience (it was 90% full at 6pm) and the food was reasonably priced and excellent quality. It could have done with being a little more spicy for me, but I suppose that's just down to personal taste. An excellent find, glad we went and would highly recommend ????
A friend I was staying with for a couple of days. Treated me to a meal here. As it was my last night in Alnwick. The restaurant. The food. The service. The staff. My vindaloo. Was 100% better than I have had in the area to were I live in Coventry.
Never fails to deliver on taste and quality. The food really is exceptional and the service from Abz and the team is really friendly and efficient. 5 years now I’ve been using this restaurant and every meal I’ve had really has been fantastic ???? We are so lucky to have Sherkhan in Alnwick along with its sister restaurant Mumbai Flavours. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed ????
First time here and it won't be the last. As soon as we walked in we felt welcome. This lasted all through the evening. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
The food, oh the food was fantasticly flavoursome. And if your brave enough try the Long Island Ice Tea cocktail. Exquisite ????
