Don't know what everyone else thinks but I personally believe it's the best fish & chip shop in this area and Sausage & Chips is scrumptious!
Visited this place first time several months ago as we commute when travelling through to Wakefield each Thursday.
Unfortunately, the lady serving there was about as mardy as you can get. The man that possibly owns the place, doesn't even bother saying hello or anything when preparing the fish.
On the very first visit, the fish & chips were very good, so despite the poor customer service, each Thursday, I continued to go.
Needless to say, each visit, the same woman serves and is so miserable that it makes you feel unwanted and uncomfortable actually going there.
Quite frankly, it seems that the first visit (that hooked me and the family) was a fluke in terms of food quality as each week the quality seemed to deteriorate. Chips looking anaemic and mushy. Fish still relatively okay, but certainly nothing good to write about.
My 9 year daughter who usually comes with me, just said, "Let's go somewhere else next time because their fish & chips aren't that good dad". She is right.
Last visited on 21st September 2023 - and usually spend at least £21. Sadly for them, it will be the last.
Customer service is everything!
Lovely staff. I didn’t have cash ( cash only) and I came back to a full shop. The woman let me jump in front of everyone, ( I didn’t ask she insisted) great food also ????
The food here is quite bad. My chips whenever I get them are often like pancakes and don't even look like chips. The food is poor quality and some chips are just rock hard. Although the fish is slightly better, the scraps aren't. The scraps taste burnt and they are disgusting. I would NOT recommend this fish and chip shop.

Best fish and chips in the area, wouldn’t go anywhere else. Luckily it’s on my doorstep
nothing wrong with the fish & chip's they were delicious so was the batter it was the curry a little on the hot side but that's just my opinion

We have just moved (moving) to Sharlston, and I am very glad this is my local chippy
