I want to congratulate Scrumptious for having a great variety of different foods. It's definitely not your typical fish & chip shop. Their steak pies are the best I've ever tasted in my (nearly) 60 years on this planet, with big pieces of steak in each one, all in a delicious gravy. ???? Neil, a long time regular.
Best fish and chips in redcar! The sandwhich bar itself has some of the best fillings and cakes I've ever had! My problem is choosing as there is too much to choose from
Great chippy, lovely staff, clean and spacious. I don't go there for gluten free chips as I'm not sure if they cator to that, but I've eaten from them for years before and have always found them to be amazing. Would always recommend
The sandwiches are really nice! Loads of filling and fresh salad.
My only concern was the lady behind the counter brushed salad (bits of sweetcorn and onion) off the work top into the refrigerator where the fresh salad was - I appreciate the counters should be clean but it appeared careless and it’s not 100% hygienic.
The card machine is also horrendously slow, it’s embarrassing. At lunch time people only have a short break so don’t want to be waiting around for that.
But the food is good, so you know… depends what you care about most ????

Been here 2wice in the last week and no, cant see us goin back. I had cod & chips an the batter looks nothing like in the pic on here, was more a smooth batter and wasnt too tasty. Wife had chips & cheese and she didnt bother eating it, said it was disgusting. Staff on that day were too interested in another customer. Tried again with Pattie & chips and Burger and chips, pattie was cold and burger was really greasy. I used to ride up from town to go here but seriously gone downhill.
No matter what the other chip shops in Redcar say. THIS IS THE BEST CHIPPY IN REDCAR. plenty of happy staff so there is not usually a long wait. Large portions too so you will feel satisfied, they also still wrap in paper and not the boxes. I find the others do so they can reduce portions. Bonus points for Scrumptious now as they are trying to make changes to help the environment :) well done :)
best fish around by far just wish they would fry the chips till they are crispy like they should be cooked not soggy.
