A cracking old ruined castle on the edge of the village.
On a defensive high ground with deep banks on 3 sides. The main keep is overgrown, and damaged, you can make out where the castle would have been extended and a courtyard formed.
On the Southern Upland Way walking route, close to the banks of the river Nith.
Enter at your own risk, fenced off for safety reasons.
Unstable ruins. not accessible to the public anymore as it is not in the best condition. Can still view it from the fields surrounding. Very picturesque ruins surrounded by hills. Great visit ????????
Stayed nearby in motorhome (at a proper campsite). Magnificent building. Would be great to see it made safe for closer visiting.
Worth a visit better parking in the housing estate next to castle then very short walk to castle
Not to bad, they could do with making it more accessible and maintain its ground. But we'll worth going to see.
It's a shame this castle has fallen into such disrepair. No charge to get is as it's all fenced off for safety purposes.
Didn’t know this was here, pleasantly surprised.
It's a pretty little ruin but unfortunately it is all fenced off due to safety issues so you can't get very close to it.
