We have tried several fish and chips shops in Haywards Heath and the surrounding areas and by far Sam's Fish Bar is the best.
I like their rockfish - it's super fresh. Their batter is on the thin side which makes it suuuper crunchy and doesn't overpower the taste of the fish. The chips are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Everything is good and next time we will be back for some mushy peas. ????
It's also a place with friendly and welcoming staff. You can take your time and enjoy the food without feeling rushed.

Ordered a large grilled haddock and small chips and it was amazing.
Fish was seasoned well and was flaky, ripping straight off the skin. Chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, really good chilli sauce as well.
Not only was it delicious but good value as well coming it at £13.50 for enough food for two. Would Highly recommend. Got their classic fried Fish+Chips and that was amazing as well, but personally prefer the lighter grilled option.
They have a great menu and great service as well and a nice atmosphere with places to eat in as well. Unbiased opinion, I do give it a perfect score just as there is no other chippy as good.
They do have Halal chicken (not the pies but everything else).
Only critique would be to put the chips in a box instead of the paper as the sauce then sticks to the paper and you lose most of the chilli sauce :( , that's me being specific.
You won't get better service or food than Sam's fish bar. Staff are really amazing and friendly and genuinely care about their customers. They even give us a fish cake for our dog when she's with us. Best fish and chips I've ever had too!

Good food, but pricey and when you get home to find that something is missing they seem to think that an extra potion of chips is ok as an apology (not the first time this has happened, but if I wanted an extra portion of chips I would have ordered them in the first place)
Absolutely amazing fresh fish and chips! Service was lovely and very friendly staff. The place was spotless! Would recommend ! Only thing missing for me was peas :)
Just ordered small chips and a buttered roll. I asked for the chips to be well done as I like them crispy not undercooked. The service girls are very young and the cook seems to bully them. My request was met with chips are cooked as they are. By this time she had taken my money. £2.50 for small chips and £1 for a buttered roll was a fair price. Shame the chips were so badly cooked. Very greasy and tasted bland. Won't be visiting here again due to the shocking service from the cook.

Hi Julian i was cooking my self tonight i am the gentleman on the very end we barely talk to the girls i think you are talking about the counter staff in this case. I tried my best to cook you crispy chips but we have fresh oil which makes it hard to “overcook” as friday is also very busy day especially at the moment we are getting new season patatoes which are very different to the agria we use which i cant get from suppliers. I will try my best to sort you out come in and see me thank you Julian
It was polite. I understand about new oil and different potatoes but he made no effort at all to cook me crispy ones. Next time I'm passing and its not a Friday night, ill try again to see if I can get crisper chips.
Heard good things about this chippy so decided to give it a go.
My usual warning about fish and chips not being cheap anymore is more true now then ever but this chippy is doing its best to peg prices by the look of its menu.
Only ordered savaloy and chips X2.
Lightening fast service. Cheerful and polite service from a young man and lady.
Food was piping hot and plenty of it for the price £9.40.
Chips were perfect and I don't say that lightly!
Savaloy was very good, super large and suitably peppery.
No superfluous fat was apparent.
All served up in a cardboard tray and wrapped in the usual white paper.
Both portions were then put into a paper carrier bag.
All in all top class food very well presented and I think environmentally friendly (no plastics).
