They've had some financial support to pull up and protect some effigies of knights & monks. Has a few good signs. There is much to see if you keep walking through the trees.
Some amazing carved stones here and definitely worth a look while going to visit saddell estate to see the castle, beach, Anthony Gormley statue and the cottage.
Worth a visit if you're passing the area. There's a car park and it's only a couple of minute walk from there. The abbey itself is mostly ruined, but there are a few obviously very old grave stones. There's a good enclosed display area with some information boards and some very well preserved old stone carvings.
Very ruined abbey, but this makes it a wonderful
place to visit. There is also a small building with impressive stone carved grave slabs of the Lords of the Western Kingdom of Scotland and the Isles, typical of this area of Scotland!
Very interesting to see the old stones in a new building. Stunning seeing the ruin being reclaimed by wildlife. Very peaceful place, probably due to the sound of running water from a near stream
Was a wonderful place worth the 200 mile drive there and back !!
A beautiful quiet place to contemplate the rich history of the Abbey. We’ll worth spending time to view the intricately carved ancient stones housed in a sympathetically constructed shelter. Take a walk down to the nearby beautiful bay after your visit.
Definetly worth a visit if combined with a trip to Saddell Bay beach and the Antony Gormley statue.
