Having no choice but to venture out of my Premier Inn hotel because the kitchen has been closed since Sunday, due to a flood. This gem of a fish bar was just a little walk away. Had the fish and chips with curry sauce, outstanding ????
First bit of disappointment was that they didn’t serve cod, so large haddock ordered. I asked for fish to be separated from chips and said yes to salt n vinegar on chips, fish got it too. Once I had got over that let down time to tuck in. The fish was nice and the batter nice and thin but I think it had been there a while. The chips must of been cooked in overdue for a change oil with all the black bits on them and were overcooked.
We had a lovely, super fresh and great fish to eat. You can't get it fresher! We enjoyed it. The fish & Chip Shop has a tiny spot beside and outside to sit and eat there.
So disappointed after a very long wait for the worst fish I have had from a fish and chip shop. Very very dry with no taste and just about inedible. Overcooked. Chips were good and husband enjoyed his chicken nuggets.
Visited twice over the course of 2 days, first visit was the evening of 11/10, and ordered a large haddock chips and curry, despite how busy it was, I was served pretty much straight away and had my order after about 5 minutes, was the nicest haddock and chips I've had for a long time! I also visited today 12/10, and ordered a large chips & gravy, the black haired lady at the till was really friendly and even apologised because i had a little wait for them, I love the little coveted up section outside next door to the fish shop, well covered and had some music on too
Worst fish and chips I have ever had the fish was way overcooked like a bit of leather all 4 suppers were the same so not a one off actually felt like it had been precooked so nowhere near fresh total disappointment
Stopped by on our first night in Thurso. Got a large haddock supper and a white pudding supper. £16 for the two. Both were delicious! Maybe the best chippie we’ve had (were from Edinburgh). Resisting the temptation to go back each night for the same.
Absolutely shocking food. These places blame the economy when it’s not, it’s the food they are cooking. Frozen fish, no excuse next to the sea. I’ve been up with gut rot all evening and I only had a quarter of the fish. This is not the economy why these places are so bad” it’s the owners and poor quality standards of business they are running. This was very poor quality fish and the chips. Stay away.
