Absolute gem of a cafe - proper Lake District hospitality. Came across the cafe on our mountain bike ride today, lovely owners took us around the back of the cafe to their garden and showed us the rescue owls and hawk. Excellent round of sandwiches, cake, tea and coffee. Lovely chat too. Will be back ????
Amazing place and super helpful owner. We were on a mountain bike ride and stopped for a coffee/ tea and realized we had some major mechanical issues to fix. The cake and drinks were great but more surprising was the owner helping and even lending us he professional bike stand to make our fixes, without it im not sure we would have been able to carry on. THANK YOU so much. will be back on our next trip. Take care to you and your family.
Lovely little cafe/gallery. I stopped by here with my wife to get out of the rain, and spent an hour enjoying coffee and a slice of cake while chatting with the owner, and making a fuss of his dog. The owner is lovely, very interesting, and has a couple of owls in the garden which he allowed us to look at. The artwork itself is very impressive as well. If we're ever back in the Lake District we'll be sure to stop by again.

After a long hike we were treated to coffee, tea and delicious sandwiches. The owners made us feel at home and let us stay until we dried out and were ready to move one. You can buy the prints that decorate the walls to really bring home something of value.
Lovely little cafe, nice people. Arrived on my motorbike and they let me leave it there whilst we went for a walk . Toasted tea-cake and latte. If you phone in advance they'll happily prepare something more substantial.
Really lovely family run tea and art shop. Owners are really friendly and full of great local knowledge. Each bird in the aviary has their own unique story of how they came into the owners care.
Wow!! What can I say. We arrived at the village of Satterthwaite yesterday (24/07/20) for a 1 week holiday with our 9 year old son. We are here to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and the first place we went to was round the corner from where we are staying at Bobtail cottage which was Robert Fletcher’s art Gallery. We had a gorgeous sandwich, cake and coffee in the tearoom which is part of the art gallery and spoke to Robert, his wife and son and bought some beautiful prints of a kingfisher for our son’s room and a badger and fox cubs prints. Robert has a god given talent and his art work I could only describe as genius. He is a true gent, is warm, humorous and is so generous with his time and we shall be visiting to buy more artwork and speaking to Robert and his family in the coming week.
I would recommend a visit as a must for anyone visiting Satterthwaite
