Visiting Durham today after many years we had a number of things that we wanted to do; walking alongside the river was top of the list.
Although it was quite a grey day it didn’t detract from the peace and quiet as we walked along the path. The path itself is flat but as we’ve had lots of rain in recent weeks in places it was quite slippery with slimy leaf mould.
Walking alongside the river as it meanders gives many totally different views of the city.
If you are visiting Durham (and are looking for a stroll away from the many cobbles/slopes/hills and steps) this is the place to be.
If you visit Durham, definitely make a point of walking along the river in multiple directions and along multiple sides. See the cathedral from many angles, the various bridges, and more.
Love the scenery and the walk. Beautiful shops around
One of the most beautiful places I know, particularly during May in good weather.
We have spent quite some time trying to find a way down with a buggy. Unfortunately, after asking myltiple people we gave up. Nothing wrong with the place itself but the accessibility should be addressed.
Lovely walk along the river wear with plenty of activities and wildlife on the water to watch between the silver street and elvet bridge's then walking back on the other side river footpath back into the town
Nice place to visit for casual walk, sight seeing ..beautiful river view????
Great walk for any occasion with awesome views on the cathedral
