Just found out that the Rising Sun in Aldeburgh has closed down. What a terrible shame. The best chinese takeaway around. My husband isn't keen on chinese but has always enjoyed their food. It's ashame that they didn't have the space to convert to a restaurant as they would have made a killing. It's been reported that it's for financial and personal reasons. I know we are still in the grip of a cost of living crisis but we would have been prepared to pay higher cost for their great food. Goodbye Rising Sun you will be sorely missed
After spending £50 I can honestly say it was the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Phoned to make my order but don’t deliver no problem at least the dog got a walk. Got home really looking forward to our crispy duck which cost £21. It was definitely not half a duck they gave gave us 12 pancakes for which we could only fill 5 of them. I thought sweet and sour chicken balls were supposed to be crispy but they were more like the texture of doughnuts. As for the rest of it was bland so ended up in the bin will not be having anything else from this takeaway.
Rising Sun is an absolute Aldeburgh institution and will be a huge miss to the high street. Consistently good food, always a friendly welcome, and everywhere needs a good Chinese takeaway!
This place is just wow! Come here every time I’m in town and it never ceases to amaze. The food is truly radioactive, but you will love it.
Best Chinese food I have had in a very long time. Very clean. Freshly cooked. Polite staff . Cannot praise this place enough. Very reasonable prices too. Very happy customer
Worst Chinese food that I have ever had. Rice looked and tasted burnt with even the peas black. Noodles dry and charred. Roast pork curry-pork,mushrooms, onions charred-all tasted burnt. He did close up as soon as we left so I couldn’t take it back. Horrible!!
We have a newborn in the family - my mother summed up the meal nicely ‘i’d have preferred bottle of baby formula than eat that again’. Not a good meal - avoid at all costs. Everything tastes burned.
Lovely experience with Rising Sun. The food was decent for the price you pay and they delievered an order I'd forgotten to order in the shop at no extra delivery fee despite it being under the 15 pound limit.
The chow mein could have been a little bit oiler for our liking, but everything else was great.
