Best KPortal Reviews

Preficing this by saying this will be a detailed fair and honest review with constructive criticism.
We had previously read about issues with wait times so decided to order just over an hour in advance (6:15pm). When we arrived at 7.30pm to collect our order there was a long queue. Went in to ask for our order to be told "it is being done now." We asked how long we could expect to wait, as it was past our collection time, only to be told "everyone is waiting" with a gesture to the other clearly disgruntled patrons.
Our order was not ready until 8pm, 30 minites after our collection window. This to me, is unnaceptable. Still, I would have let this go if the food were of high quality. It was not. We ordered:
2x wonton soup
1x "Becca's magic box"
1x prawn toast
1x shredded beef in sweet and sour
1x custard buns
The soup - not made from a stock, tastes like cooking sauce with too much soy. Wontons were just pork mince, no seasoning, no spring onions, just plain pork.
The "magic box" - nothing was salt and pepper, no hint of seasoning to this degree. Chips were ok, chicken balls and pieces were actually quite nice as were the noodles. Rice was barely fried and mushy. Satay sauce included was, quote from friend "like gravy with mashed peanuts"
Prawn toast - thin, hardly any filling and omly one slice of the toast. Taste was not bad.
Shredded beef - the sauce was nice, good portion size but the beef was completely soggy. Not even as if it had been remotely crispy at ome point in its life.
Custard buns - clearly not home made, which wouldn't bother me normally but the price should reflect this.
The store generally was clean and tidy but the atmosphere was ruined by, who I can only assume was the kitchen manager, shouting and berating employees in full earshot of customers.
On that note, there was only 3 people working. How can a popular takeaway, with a large social media presence and people driving miles to try the food, expect to keep up on a busy weekend with 3 staff only 2 of which were cooking?! They even admitted online orders were turned off at 7pm as they could not cope. Ome couple ahead of us traveled nearly as far as we did and were equally unimpressed with waiting.
My final thoughts are:
If more time was spent sourcing better quality products/ingredients, hiring/training staff, working on delivery times and trying to appease locals rather than making content for Social media, this could be a decent place. I know social media is good for marketing but whats the point if a large portion of people leave dissapointed and don't come back? Unless something changes, we certainly won't be.
Tried Rebecca's for the first time. It was extremely busy due to it being a Saturday, so we had to collect which was no problem. We ordered a 12" Beccas Munchie Box with sweet and sour sauce and curry sauce. Unfortunately we did not receive our second paid sauce but didn't realise until home. Munchie box was jam packed with food and was piping hot. Everything tasted amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Way too much for just 2 people though (unless you have huge appetite!) would certainly go again and recommend you try it.
I've tried Rebecca's a few times now, as a vegetarian, this was a must try given the huge veggie/vegan menu. Everytime I ordered, I got the veggie wraps and they were good but decided to change it up by trying the salt and pepper veggie chicken only for it to arrive and I couldn't eat it, one bite and I had to spit it out as it was far too salty, like ridiculously salty, you could see the salt crystallise on the veggie chicken, the size of the portion is also not really worth the money I spent and considering it was all salt and no other seasoning, will not be trying again, also the curry sauce I ordered was super salty too. I will say that I love the milkshakes and would definitely recommend those.
Ordered once or twice, food is okay but not anything special. My issue is the horrible customer service, the owner cannot take criticism to improve her food what so ever. My partner left a review over how the chips were soggy and the food tasted reheated, we've now come to find out she's searched him on all social media platforms and blocked him. I'm still seeing reviews on how the food is not great, it just feels like this owner has put in no effort in improving her food and is more concerned about the popularity. I'll most likely be blocked after this but it won't stop people coming forward reviewing how poor quality the food is.
The anticipation of my food arriving turned into frustration as a two-hour plus wait extended into an underwhelming culinary experience. Despite the prolonged wait, the food that arrived was, at best, subpar. The dishes lacked flavour and were cold. I have read the reviews and wanted to give Rebecca’s the benefit of the doubt but lo and behold, they were correct when it came down to delivery times and food being cold.
A call to inquire about the order's status only added to the disappointment. The woman on the phone seemed rushed, offering little clarity or reassurance, leaving me feeling more frustrated than before. To then I got a notification to say the order was on its way, which frankly, considering I only live a 5 minute drive away( I do agree that it would be as easy to come and collect the order but with the weather and personal circumstances I should not have to do this in order to have my order warm and tasteful) regardless, this should not have taken another 40 minutes, regardless of whether there were multiple orders to be delivered. As I have worked in the takeaway/delivery industry, I know how deliveries are run and this was definitely not that.
The overall experience at Rebecca’s takeaway fell far short of expectations. While delays can be understandable, the lackluster quality of the food coupled with indifferent customer service left a bitter taste. It's disheartening when a much-anticipated meal fails to deliver on both timeliness and taste.
I would love to hear their input on this as I have heard of several other customers orders being the same as mine, and have heard of countless bad reviews on this matter, I don’t believe I should spend my money in a takeaway that 1. Doesn’t appreciate that a 2 hour+ wait is less than ideal and 2. Customers should be treated with respect and not fobbed off for calling with concerns for their order.
Ordered a take away, given a time of 2 hours, did think at the time that’s long but was hoping it may arrive quicker, no we waited 3 hours for delivery, which is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you are feeding children as well, there is we no way of contacting the shop, the phone rang out then was going straight to answer phone and the Facebook message doesn’t work, no apology from the delivery driver, I’ve always rated Rebecca’s and normally we collect for this reason, this has unfortunately put me off ordering again as a 3 hour wait on a delivery for 3 people is absolutely outrageous!! Would have asked for a refund if I could contact anyone
Great food! Well worth the visit ! We travelled from Livingston! Maybe 30 - 40 miles to find out we went to the same high school! Defo b back as food was amazing and portion sizes were huge! Thanks.
Sooo went here today on my way to docs, went to get char Sui bao buns ended up coming out with char Sui in black bean sauce that had vegetables in. Was super yummy and I’ll definitely be back to get it again some time in the future. It might not of been what I asked for, BUT ITS SO YUMMY ???? It’s not even something I’d of considered mixing, thank you the woman who served me today at the front she was so lovely, was under a bit of stress because of some customers but none the less she handled the situation amazingly. And that’s not something you see in a lot of work places I was honestly amazed by this. The meat was perfectly done it wasn’t too chewy and it wasn’t undercooked either, the sauce isn’t too sweet it’s literally perfect and the veg tastes amazing, I’m not even someone for eating veg much but it’s so good! I definitely should of got rice with it but none the less it’s spectacular.
Overall I recommend this place to anyone looking for some where to eat, it is so colourful inside, food is amazing and staff are friendly.
