Was pretty much a ruin when we sheltered here in 1971 when climbing The Old Man. Good to see it has been retained & restored. Excellent work. Sorry no pictures as they're long lost but the memories remain.xx
I spent one night here alone. Amazing experience and view. About 1 km from parking. Scenic road here from ferry.
If you're here for a luxurious stay in the bothy you're on the wrong path. Very basic, leaking roof, you will get to sleep on raised stone slabs, doors with frame coming off the walls, no electricity, although there's a toilet and sink but you have to boil or filter that water before drinking. BUT I LOVED IT! It's a very unique place... (There's a fireplace and something to burn in it. Also bring some tea lights)
Beautiful place to stay, it wasn't in a great condition when we came in on a Monday, but left it all clean for the next to come.
There is all needed to lit a fire, camping beds, mats and some pans and pots as well as some cleaning stuff.
There is even a toilet in the house!
This place saved us from a cold night in the elements after climbing the old man till late in the night. Bring something warm and padded though.
Please keep it clean. It’s a great facility to have as an escape.
Stayed in the garden area outside the bothy last year, beautiful scenery; blue water, white sands, cliffs that are hundreds of feet tall all around and lots of wild sea birds.
Try to avoid the smaller birds as they are more likely to attack you than a big one if you approach their nest.
Great site and bothy lovely tranquil place to stay. Even had a loo
Room service not great and the minibar was lacking but superb location made the visit worthwhile ????
