Went in today to have a flat white and a piece of cake and was very pleased. Come to Tavistock often and haven't found anywhere that does a decent coffee until today. The cake was really lovely and it was very cosy on this horrible rainy day. Will absolutely come back here next time I'm in Tavi wanting a coffee.
Lovely coffee and cake in a lovely coffee shop. Comfy sofas and ambience lovely. Lighting and furniture nice. Light and airy and. A lovely place. Staff super friendly too.
This is the best place in Tavistock for coffe and cake. Very comfortable surroundings and the staff are first class. A warm and friendly welcome and a quiet atmosphere where you can relax and hear yourself think. Cosy seating with great coffee. All this comes at a very competitive price and in my opinion, better than the competition in town.
A*. Will be back ……. regularly ????
Lovely coffee lounge in Tavistock. The town centre desperately needed this type of café and it has not disappointed! Georgina makes excellent oat cortados, and Lisa's cheese and onion toasties are delicious - empty plates always return to the kitchen! Nice choice of cakes, crisps, teas and cold drinks too. It is great to be able to sit in comfy sofas or armchairs and enjoy our drinks. Would definitely recommend and it is our go-to place for coffee in Tavistock!
This was the second time I've been here, and as a new member in the community, I was hoping it could be somewhere I regularly go once a week to get some peace from my two toddlers. However, whilst I was still enjoying my scone, the owner came up to me and abruptly asked me to leave. Claiming I had been there for 2 hours on my laptop, I was taking up a valuable seats needed for customers. Absolutely mortified at this public berating, I explained I had been there for just over an hour and had bought a coffee, a tea and a scone (with all the additionally priced condiments.) She then went and got me the till receipt to say I had been in since 10:15, to which I said yes it is now 11:45, and in that time, I have also had a friend join me and he bought a coffee and cake. She proceeded to tell me about not being able to run a business with people on laptops and said she had one person in yesterday for 3 hours on a laptop. And I said, yes that wasn't me, I work in hospitality and I'm fully aware of the detriment of this behaviour but I have ordered 5 items and brought you new business whilst 90% of your other customers have sat here for an hour with one tea. During the whole time I was there, there was always a free seat. Feeling humiliated and upset, I got up and left and I won't be returning. I will find a new, more welcoming spot to bring my regular custom to, and meet my friends, and their friends and so on. Having run successful hospitality businesses for over 15 years the lesson here is simple. Do not tarnish your customers with the same brush. Think of spend per customer per visit, not per hour or based on whether they have a laptop in front of them. Think of them holistically, their demographics and what else they might be bringing to the table. And if you really want to adopt a one size fits all approach, then be clear about your rules. It's understandable to have signs to say 'please keep laptop time to one hour.' Last week when I went, I even asked the staff member if it was OK to be on my laptop, to which she replied 'yes, no problem.' Hence my repeat business. I'm not in the business of ruining someone's livelihood so here are 5 stars in addition to the valuable free lesson.
Excellent cafe with a great selection of vegan and gluten free cakes. This will be my cafe for whenever I visit Tavistock. Good prices too and friendly staff.
A wonderful lunch with the girls, Georgia and Lisa’s coffee lounge is beautiful, lovely atmosphere and staff are very nice, nothing is to much trouble, I would definitely recommend Pym Street Coffee Lounge for a visit when you are in Tavistock.
