Great bakery, really well priced compared to other well known ones in the Hertfordshire area.
Bread pudding was delicious as was the spicy lamb pasty. Can highly recommend these.
Staff were lovely and very helpful.
I popped into the bakery for lunch togsy and got a sausage roll, steak slice and two donuts for a really food price and really delicious
Great roll Bacon Baps at a reasonable price, I recommend the bacon baps
It is not great but it is not awful.
The Good : The cheese and bacon turnovers are lovely.
The Bad: The jam doughnuts were terrible, I expected them to be amazing.
The Ugly: The staff are hit and miss. Some of them are really friendly and others give the impression that they don't want to be there and don't want you to be there either!
Good Bakery but limited Vegan options.very limited
Good staff, good prices, good food. Not much else to say :)
Great choice of different hot and cold foods and rolls ect. Bacon roll is a definite favourite for me
Customer service non existent.
One member of staff appeared to be on personal phone call the other ignored me for a good few minutes and then just said 'yes'. Quoted the price no please or thank you and plonked card machine on counter in front of me.
Will try another branch in future.
Mince pies were lovely. Customer service was definitely not!
Sourdough. But, not how you imagine.......!
Always a handy little bakery, being just a couple minutes walk away. Not a huge selection compared to the commercial outlets but, at least, it is fresh and "home made", you might say.
We love sourdough bread. We buy it from a commercial bakery that makes it in fresh, small batches. I spoke with an artisan baker recently and he explained how a traditional sourdough cob is made and what is involved and he, actually, showed me his 'proving'. He had sold out as only made in small batches...... ????
After being told how commercial bakeries cut corners to make their sourdough we thought we must try "proper, home made artisan sourdough". Hence, our local bakers came into play!
Again, only small batches are made and "best to pre-order as it sells out so quick!". We paid in advance of £5 for two loaves and waited for them to be collected, as we were due to trip over to Brittany in a short while and these would be lovely to take with us.
We collected.
They were large.
Very light.
Crust not crusty.
They both contained quite a lot of rye. They stayed in France and fed the local mice, rats and cats in the hamlet.
Not once was it mentioned that these sourdough beads are made using rye which, from what I've been told, it's not a traditional method.
Was such a shame........... ☹️
