My car insurer forwarded the case to this solicitor. Was asked to provide the info and fill in the form. 9 months later, no news and no emails. They never follow up! Very irresponsible & unreliable.
[Updated on 24-04-2024]: I feel responsible to update my previous review, which was a one star, in order to give a more fair judgement after the progress over the past months. I was upset when I tried several times to communicate for an update of my case but all failed. After filing a complaint, the management took it seriously, which shows me that Proddow Mackay is indeed a responsible company. I was even impressed that a rather formal investigation of my reported issues was launched and I was kept updated of the outcome. This completely changed my view over this company. I therefore upgrade my review to 4 stars. The missing star is due to my previous unpleasant experience of the ineffective communication, which I cannot judge that it has been fully resolved.
Keep this positive momentum and it shouldn't be too far away from a 5-star.
Based on my personal experience and that of close family members I would not use this firm for any house purchase.
Their money laundering checks were extensive, intrusive and nonsensical.
There seemed to be no plan or timeline for the conveyancing, so everything ran late; extremely stressful.
I am a director of an estate agents and Proddow Mackay Solicitors are the worst conveyancing firm I’ve ever dealt with in over 1000 property transactions.
They are unprofessional, they don’t return calls, they ignore my vendors solicitors and they keep changing completions days with diabolical communication.
After several months of dealing with a buyer, they advise at the last minute that they need to get their compliance officer to sign off the file. This should have been done many weeks ago and not at the last minute when my client is anxiously waiting to complete their sale.
Avoid!!
Excellent team of conveyancing lawyers. Wendy, Sam and William did an excellent job for us on our sale and transaction. Their other colleagues were also delightful to deal with. Thanks everyone.
I had no idea what to expect from house sale/purchase conveyancing as had not used a solicitor for same for 27 years! P&M were recommended by my selling agent and though I had at least two assistants per conveyance acting for the main solicitor, they all played an equal part in keeping me updated. Yes, it was a lengthy process as there were five people in the chain and at times I thought they'd forgotten about me but once I followed up with my concerns over this wait, I had an immediate response. Moving house is definitely stressful,expensive and more box ticking from years ago but personally had no issues at all.
I am completely dissatisfied with the service from Proddow Mackay Solicitors.
They state that they will get back to clients within 3 working days and left us for over 2 weeks with no reponse. They then proceed to blame 'issues with gmail' and the estate agents, when we have had no issues with either.
When expressing dissatisfaction with the service, P&M made no effort to ammend issues. Unhelpful and, quite frankly, uninterested.
For a service that is costly, there were multiple consistent mistakes in spellings of names and numbers, despite prompting from our end.
I would most certainly avoid using their services.
This would be a zero star review if it was possible. Whilst Proddow Mackay were ok in managing our house sale they were terrible in managing our purchase.
They missed emails and were constantly late with responses coming close to jeopardising our purchase. We had no verbal communication with Bimpe throughout the purchase and had to constantly chase to keep the sale progressing.
We weren’t talked through any of the covenants on our house, being left to interpret the responses ourselves.
Upon completion, Proddow Mackay attempted to overcharge us on stamp duty as they failed to correctly sum the costs.
Avoid this company at all costs.
We would give zero if possible. Assigned these solicitors for a simple mortgage exchange in August. Took a month to receive paperwork and the broker had to chase them for it.
E-mailed paperwork but wouldn't accept a digital signature, so expected us to print dozens of pages at our own expense and post.
When extra information is needed from us it takes them 2 weeks to realise and it's only mentioned when we chase them up with a phone call!
Recently told the person handling our case is on annual leave and it hadn't been handed over to someone else. At this point they told us it would be 6-8 weeks FROM NOW. What have they been doing all this time???
It's been 4 months and nothing to show for it, we ended up changing solicitors.
