Best KPortal Reviews
The breakfast was really good, our room whilst small was comfortable enough and most importantly clean. I was pleased that the shower had decent power and warm water. The room was quiet, although on a Saturday night you have to accept that a pub with entertainment is going to have some noise and the drag queen was very good and finished at a reasonable time). |Location is great, we got the No.5 bus from Newport (15mins and literally stops at the pub door!) and literally cross the road to Osborne House. Evening food is not available but they recommended the Victoria Tavern which did tasty food with friendly service about 15mins walk away.|A few things we would suggest for improving is teaspoons in the room and it to be clear that the pub is actually closed until 3pm in the week, rather than just this being the check in time. This is totally on us for not getting in touch, but we did try to leave our bags around 1130 before going to Carisbrooke Castle (understanding we wouldnt get to go to our room) but it was locked up. Not their fault, but something to be aware of if you want to do the same.|
Five minute drive from the ferry terminal, opposite entrance to Osborne House. Its a pub with rooms, interesting historic building. Staff were all friendly, room was really nice, spotlessly clean. We were on the top floor in a bit of a heatwave so it was quite hot but they had opened all the windows and set a fan going. Breakfast was nice. Car park to the side. Would stay again
Read reviews before booking,||The pub / Hotel is not worth booking in our opinion (although the staff are lovely the owners have strict rules for them to follow).|Check In is @ 3pm if your lucky & the bar closes if there are 3 customers in so times vary considerably 8pm on a Friday night 9pm on a Saturday...||They have no chef currently so no food available & the breakfast is inedible all deep fat fried & hard.||Rooms are very small we booked a superior double & at best was a large single.|Pub looks run down which is a shame as it is in a great location.|The owner needs to look at investment in all areas of this business
Stopped in for a cold drink while waiting for our ferry. Staff were very welcoming. Lots of lovely oil lamps and trinkets around the place. Toilets are cleanest I have been in on the island! Did not stay over or eat.
Me and my partner stayed for the weekend. Upon arrival we didn't realise it was on a main road. But as we went inside and was shown to our room we were pleasantly surprised as we couldn't hear the road to our relief. The room was clean and nice and the bathroom was the same. The only bad thing I would say is the shower was too small. Me and my partner are both small but it was very cramped. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. And the breakfeast was ok. I would go back as we did enjoy our stay.
Mixed Reviews.................||Stayed here 3 nights as it was my Birthday and I had always wanted to visit Osborne House.|The Hotel /Pub is opposite the gates to the house so a perfect location,|We arrived 2pm ish and all was closed and locked up (it did say 3pm check in) so wasnt out of our ay to visit nearby Whippingham||Checking in. Theres a car park at the front but as its an Old building there are lots of steps so with luggage that's a mammoth effort!!! and required 2 trips.||Firstly we couldnt find a remote control for the TV (very small TV at that!) so member of staff took one from another room. We later discovered it was hiddenunder the bed throw! so had to go again to the bar to return it.||Complimentary Tea (;loose tea bags!) and coffee, milk sachets and some biscuits were there and fresh towels and soap etc||So we hoped for a lovely stay||The breakfast was lovely - home cooked and hot (l;ovely lady who cooked it) A hard worker! You could choose cereals or a full english breakfast. juice, tea coffee etc. Only downside I would dsayt is toast is not served seperate but balanced on the brealkfast plate!||Then the mishaps happened that made the stay less than enjoyable. Came back to room after first day out. Bed was made. We had left towels in shower to be replaced (one towel gad a stain on it we noticed on arriva;!) these were NOT replaced and no tea / milks etc replaced either so had to go down to reception AGAIN. Then the landlady? and barman came up with new towels and tea coffee to apologise.||I had also noticed ONE pillow had NO pillowcase - TWO days on purpose I left that on the top of the bed so it would be seen., It was ignored. The pillow was stained too!||NO working air conditioning so had to have window open, Fan orovided was useless - sounded like a rocket taking off (thankfully we had our own as my partner needs a fan for medical reasons)_||On the last day we were packing, we put their DO NOT DISTIURB sign on the door and locked it. Then heard a key turning and the room cleaner walked in - then said sorry and left. Well I laughted it off BUT thats really poor/ VERY POOR||This has the makings of a great business but these small mishaps do and WILL put custpners off, You have to be made feel welcome, We paid £315 for three nights and thats a lot for what it is, The location swung it for us but even so these errors.................||The rooms are themed with royal names and are small. I imagine its a listed building so they are limited what they can do and the renovations are lovely. The bathroom water / Loo operate on a water pump. So it occassionally rumbles for a few seconds.||Breakfast area needs refreshing. I am amazed they are not marketing the royal side of the Pub Hotel more as it has cvnnections to Osbornes histrory. Pub seems much quieter. We had a room at the back so as its on main road didnt have traffic passing by||Would we stay again.............. mmmmmmmmmmmm||Not sure||
Can't really comment on location as it was right by ferry terminal but further than we thought from Cowes town.
Although we didn't initially have things in our room, they were very accommodating and only too happy to oblige requests.
Room wasn't the cleanest but was doable for our stay.
Room was very hot and couldn't leave window open due to traffic noise but rather it be too warm than too cold! Carpet hasn't been hoovered and decor could do with touching up, yet, the bed was very comfortable and the room was nice.
Only hinderance, was the heavy doors that slammed and this happened continually in our first night.
Lady who served us breakfast was lovely and friendly even with the use of just 1 arm! Breakfast was a basic menu but was enough for us. Orange juice, tea, coffee and a choice of cereals and a full English and toast. We enjoyed the breakfast ????
Recommend for a short stay and if you are like us, dont use your room often when on holiday.
We thoroughly enjoyed our mini break and we had more positives than negatives about the accommodation ????
We stayed for Easter weekend but amazingly didn't try the bar. Staff were wonderful, the room much better than the website picture and exceptionally clean. Very good breakfasts and just across the road from Osborne House (this was a rainy bank holiday!)
