As other said before, be very careful when parking! We bought a parking ticket but because the vehicle extended over one parking space, now we have to pay a 100£ fine. (If we bought two parking tickets it would have been fine).

The car park was very empty and there was plenty of space so we were not too careful. This excessive fine feels very inappropriate and more like a cash grab from tourists.

We issued a ticket and had a walk in the city centre. Be careful - there is a fine of 100GBP if one of your wheels is slightly (a few cm) out of the parking spot. Someone from the council walks around and only waits for those cases. Did feel like daylight robbery.

Easy access and enough space. We paid 3£ for 6hours of parking (sunday 4pm - monday 10am) as the time between 8pm and 8am is free of charge. Overnight parking is only for cars, RV‘s are not allowed to stay overnight.

Read the signs to be sure.

Paying is possible with coins or card.

We read other reviews here that listed this as the best car park in Portree. I have to agree. It was 3 pounds for 11hrs of parking.

Be careful when parking! The local community extends their pocket money here. We filled up our water here and stood in a parking lot. We were 30cm over the white line and were fined £50. Better control the driving style of the tourists, some are overwhelmed by the big campers.

Echoing another comment that this lot is a cash cow for the council. The charger was out of order – and had been for months (per zapmaps). We paid to park, kept the car in the charging spot and got ticketed.

As I mentioned the charger hasnt worked for months and even says "Out of Order" on the machine. I wonder if we would have gotten a ticket if we had performatively left the charger plugged in.

I won't even go into the rigamarole involved in contesting a parking ticket as a foreign tourist. Needless to say, I ate the £50 fine because the odds of reversing it were nil.

Pretty lame.
