We went on a Sunday evening at the end of April, so weren't massively surprised to find the restaurant empty when we arrived and that it remained empty until a few minutes before we left.
The food was really nice and not expensive, although the Singha beer was a bit pricey at £4.15 for a 330ml bottle.
Just one gripe - there is a sign on the door that says "American Express cards welcome" and our bill was presented in a bill wallet with the American Express logo on it, but guess what? They don't take American Express cards! If you don't take the card, don't advertise (twice) that you do!
Really friendly place with tasty Thai dishes and quite a big menu to choose from.
Chilly Saturday night in April so can’t comment on the garden out back - but hear that is lovely on a nice day.

Very average food was not overwhelmed by flavour. The staff were very friendly and they do have a lovely garden out that back that you would need to book I'm advance to secure a table. The food was not hugely flavoursome and lacked the real zing of other Thai places I've had. It was cheap and cheerful food but don't expect a life changing experience.
Fabulous food, fantastic service and a lovely garden area so that you can have a drink with your meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant ????

I visited last night for the first time in a number of years and was very impressed with the whole experience.
Everything was so fresh, light and super tasty.
The service was fast and friendly.
Very reasonably priced too.
We had the starter sharing platter, pard see ew,pard thai and massa man nua.
The takeaway from Poonthai in North Berwick was undoubtedly the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was bland, cold and had no hint of Thailand cuisine. I didn’t even eat more than a mouthful. My wife was more brave than me and stopped after two spoons full. I don’t even think it was worth one star. The restaurant was completely empty. Now I know why. I will never eat from there again. I don’t believe the five star ratings.
Great tasty food and service and lovely to sit outside. Beer just a little bit pricey for those wee bottles.
The food is absolutely delicious and authentic. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I especially love the outdoor seating area which is a little taste of Thailand in North Berwick.
