So saddened to write this review having being an avid supporter for many years and travelling miles to get my hands on what was the closet thing to authentic Jamaican patties!I have received such poor service from a male member of staff who complained that it’s too much to walk and change my two patties into two separate bags and to top it off the patties weren’t from their usual supplier who have quality flaky pastry and a hot meaty filling! This one was barely warmed up and lacking in flavour ! I’m so upset I bought two and still paid the premium price! Sort out staff because negative images spread further than good and such a shame seeing this business go down hill!
Excellent customer service, food taste good and is clean and consistent. Friendly atmosphere, staff are down to earth and give you good portion sizes. I have been going to Patty Palace Sydenham for almost a year now and I have never had a bad experience there. I don't really write reviews, however I feel some of the reviews left so far are the opposite of my experience, so I wanted to contribute my experience to provide a more balanced view - I would recommend you go and try for yourself!
Poor service, poor food and poor quality all round, your business doesn’t showcase a true Jamaican establishment and your attitude doesn’t either, you give your people a bad name when you behave like you act never owned a business before. I received attitude just by ordering 2 simple pattys, that were unevenly cooked in their microwave in the front of the shop. How do you mess up microwaving food? On top of this, the filling tasted off and almost old, so I’m sure they do not use fresh food every day. I won’t be going here anymore and I hope that people that do go into this ‘palace’ know that this is not how Jamaicans behave, they were raised wrong in there.
The service in there is horrible, no manners and poor attitude, it put me off from even ordering. It’s a real shame

Been in there twice, both times didn't have lamb patties which is pretty disappointing for a place literally named after patties.
I was told the patties were cold, they asked if I wanted mine 'warmed up', to which I said yes. It was then given to me so piping hot it could only have been microwaved. This is a guess though. I couldn't eat it for about 10 minutes when it cooled down.
Once it cooled down it was OK but nothing special like I would expect from a place called "Patty Palace". Had very little filling and zero crust. Had much better patties from Healthy Options and Caribbean Bites nearby. Both of which have a much nicer vibe.
Plantain was cold and dry with a weird texture like it had been cooked the day before. Genuinely the worst plantain I’ve had in my life. I love plantain so much, and I couldn't even eat this, I had to throw it away. This is a big thing for me..
Last point - Staff didn't seem particularly welcoming or happy to be there, I actually got totally ignored at first and someone else (who entered after me) got served before me - but I wouldn't have cared about this if the food was good.
None of the staff dont have no manners, they have no people skills whatsoever. I only go in there when im desperate for a drink. I'm surprised that they are even still open to be honest. I have been to this establishment a good few times and its always the same, regret it everytime I go in there...... so will not go on there again, I would rather be thirsty till I get to another shop.
Semi rude staff no personality no smiles no how are you just what can I get you even before finishing with the customers before you. Asked what's on the menu she tells you with her back turned so you cannot hear what she saying. Ital juice advertised but not one in the shop. Touching her phone while serving food is unhygienic but I saw this after my food was served. I only saw her smile once when a light skinned man came in she was very happy then and a white customer too. But the black customers she was very miserable. The old lady was ok. I would not go there again since the food was ok even though I got chicken back and a tiny pigeon leg with a small rice and. Only ginger beer and water in fridge no other drinks at all. The shop set up was nice but the poor customer service was a let down. Management need to pay for some customer service training and a smile for each customer as they enter the shop will go along way as I saw customers come in and leave without buying.
