Best KPortal Reviews

There are certain things you don’t expect to do when you go out for a bite to eat: cleaning the previous customers table is one of them. Not once did the staff come over to wipe down any of the tables, this is a very poor hygiene issue. The food (when it eventually arrived) was nice but for £45, I do expect a bit of service. There were no knives available and I had to ask several times. I appreciate it was busy, but I have eaten in far busier places who have a handle on basic hygiene and service. When leaving, my children wanted some ice lolly’s, having already paid and eaten I asked the staff member if I could have the card machine to quickly pay and go. He said I had to queue again. Fine, another 15 minutes I did, but when I got to the front and it was my turn to pay the server had forgotten a chunk of the order for the person before me- and stopped serving me. At this point, I had to say something. I received a half hearted sorry which was quickly followed up with “oh but as you can see”
Yes, I see the place was busy. But lack of hygiene and service is a big no/no from me. Judging my the other reviews, this place is a hit and miss. For those who have commented or poor or lack of service, this place haven’t taken the comments on board.
To be fair, McDonald’s at least clean their tables with spray and a cloth!
Visited during a local walk. Ordered 2 flat white coffees - it took approximately 15 mins to get these. The service was painfully slow - and with only one other person waiting makes me wonder how they cope when busy. The coffees were served in a tall glass - definitely not how a flat white is presented. We asked our server to confirm that it was a flat white, adding that we'd never before had one in a tall glass. She said it was!!!! The coffee was very, very weak and milky - more of a latte for sure (and neither of us would ever order a latte). Drank it as we'd paid £3.40 each, but not enjoyable and will not be returning. Such a shame as the cafe is in a lovely position but as coffee lovers we were extremely disappointed.
Visited Saturday 20th May 2023 early afternoon.
Relatively new café the opening was delayed by COVID and flooding.
Modern coffee shop decor, it's clean, comfortable and inviting with a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks alongside cakes, milkshakes etc.
Staff were friendly and service was quick, it was busy but not absolutely packed.
Seating is available inside, but during the summer it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the view over the water.
The drinks and cakes we had were really nice; however, as others have mentioned it's quite expensive, I know you pay for the location/surroundings/experience etc, but it's still pricey for what you get.
Having said that we'll definitely be back for a coffee during the summer.
Well that's another avenue of pleasure closed off to us.We love walking down to the gardens and we enjoyed a cup of tea with a toasted tea cake, or a cooked breakfast. But there has been a slow change in the staff and the cafe is now suffering. There was one toasted tea cake on this Monday morning when we turned up with the tea cakes being delivered in the afternoon! The is now a 75p per shot charge for oat milk if you don't want dairy milk! A total rip off!!!
We were not charged by the previous staff members for oat milk as we were regulars. We walked out when we were advised the toasted tea cake scenario and the price of oat milk.Shame because we are supporters of local companies.
Staff very polite and friendly. A few good vegan options. I had an iced latte which was really nice and the vegan sausage roll with some chips all very tasty. Lovely surroundings next to the river. The cafe is very clean.
It's OK but not for me. I like a bit of service. I explained to the lady serving me that the hot chocolate was for a child and it was served in a large glass cup! The place allows dogs but the owners of a large dog on the next table had no consideration for people, as they expected me to walk round the dog with a tray of hot drinks. My granddaughter said she couldn't drink the hot chocolate because it was too sweet.. I tasted it and it tasted like it had been made of water and was very sweet.
I asked the waiter who brought my food to see if he could pass me a knife he turned and pointed behind him..I had to ask him to pass me one.
There is outdoor seating and it backs onto the playground .
And looking at the photo looks like it's had a na.e change.
Five staff for a tiny place and service was what you expected with 5 people almost doing nothing! The place itself is lovely. The worst aspect was the toilets, discusting. I mean, they have not been cleaned for weeks. If that's the state of the toilets, then what is the kitchen like!
We called in half term. They were quite busy but not as busy as when we've called in, in the past. The drinks were were delicious and my Godson enjoyed his cake. Sadly I thought it was a bit on the expensive side. Table clearing was quite slow too. We'd got 2 children with us and a small spillage was made so we asked for something to clean it up and was given 1 serviette... it was convenient with it being at the side of the park and is in a beautiful setting in Belper River Gardens.
