My doctor listens and does what she needs to. The reception staff have never been rude to me and seem really willing to help BUT that nurse...oh that nurse!!! When I first joined, had to do an initial check up appointment and she was telling my talkative 2 yr old to stop talking and was frankly so rude and cold to her AND then yesterday I had a smear test; rude, got one of my lips trapped and then with the stick seemed like she was trying to do some sort of damage, I've had smear tests before, never have I been so uncomfortable as I was; her technique is awful
I have been a patient for more than 25 years and although the reception staff, with 1 exception, are not the best, I have always been happy with the good level ov medical care I have received. I see someone has remarked negatively about the nurse. The regular nurse at the surgery is first rate and highly professional.
The reception staff are so hideous we decided not to register.
They lack any manners, people skills and common sense. It was one of the most rude and ridiculous experiences my husband and I have ever had, all at a simple registration. They did not even know who the practice manager or main GP was when I asked. The surgery itself is incredibly dated and stale. The website is clunky and dated also. I would not recommend anyone register at this surgery.
We've been with Park House for 2 years now and decided to leave due to a mostly negative experience. The service we've had ranged from passive-aggressive to open hostility by both admin and GPs.
The receptionists are habitually unpleasant, impatient, and will make every simple request difficult. From the GPs expect to tolerate domineering and cold treatment. Don't expect any one of them to get back to you on the phone when they say they would.
I would especially not recommend any of the doctors to treat babies and children. They are harsh and ungentle with a markedly old-fashioned 'childish' approach where micro-aggressions towards children go unoticed: They physically restrain children to examine them as a matter of course, rather than approach the child with kindness and respect, explain what's going to happen and obtain the child's cooperation. Instead of improving their interpersonal skills, it's quite normal for them to hold down a screaming frightened child.
The positive: You can get an urgent appointment on the same day if you phone early enough, and regular appointments within a couple of weeks. Nurses appointments have markedly better kinder service.
Reception staff is extremely rude, barking at you when giving answers. When you call, and you are not lucky to be shouted at, they might just hang up once you've been put through! Doctors are good-ish, depending on which one you get although sometimes I find the most basic medical knowledge is missing, or you wait forever for follow ups.
Due to chronic illness I've had to do a very important blood test. THE ONLY nurse in the practice couldn't see me for 3 weeks because went on holiday, and when finally my appointment has come, practice has cancelled on me 15 minutes before the appointment cause apparently THE ONLY nurse has got ill. So had to wait another 3 weeks for the blood test to do.
Regarding GP in the same practice,- for the first time appointment (after registering) I've came for the prescription which shouldn't have been given to me without blood test, apparently looks like you should know which medicine do you need and without any further tests and check ups GP will just write the prescription and off your go.
.......VERY PROFESSIONAL!
The receptionists and GPs in this surgery have been very helpful in giving my newborn son emergency appointments/telephone consultations on many occasions when he was sick. As a first time mum, this is the best service I can ever ask for.
The GPs come and go, but they have always been at or above standard for the past 20 years. So why the low rating?
Sadly the reception staff have been, and continue to bring this place down. It has been, more or less the reception same staff over the years who have a set way of doing things; which if you don't like it ( which is generally the case ) makes you feel like getting through whatever symptoms you have is half the battle.
Rude abrupt and a know it all attitude gets this rating. There are however exceptions to this rule such, but this a review on the practice itself.
Adults with children or the elderly are often present in waiting rooms as they are local and not willing to travel. Those more able to travel to another practice have, and i advise if you can, do.
