Quite pricey food but cooked fresh! Also for the price I thought portions were small too! I personally won’t be back again! Staff were polite and chatty and the place looks clean.
Best fish and chips in Kent, worth every expensive penny.

20/5/23 Same as usual, always very good.
11/11/23. Lovely as usual, batter crispy, fish fresh and nice and white, chips done to a turn. What more can you ask.? And a family of ducks for entertainment.
Popped here why staying near Ash and I must say I am glad we did. The fish was lovely and large, even though we ordered the medium and chips were pretty awesome too.
Only real issue is that parking can be a little tricky, but if you go late enough, then there are no restrictions on the single yellow line outside.
In a part of the world where we're not short of decent fish and chips, Papa's stands out. Nice cup of tea, too. Thin batter that's lovely and crispy and a good-sized portion. Great fish as well.
I heard about this chip shop by Mickey Clarke on his wake up to money show. As I had only ever driven through Sandwich I thought I would make a day of visiting the town and using this chippy in the evening.
So I was aware that the chippy was there. It does not make itself obvious. The shop is along the quayside with ample parking. There are public toilets opposite the shop but they seem to have early closing times.
The shop is small with a low ceiling but surprisingly I saw a sign for upstairs seating but I did not venture up the stairs. Prices were reasonable, I expected higher prices because of the tourists visiting. The fish is presented in a box which was a plus. The fish size was OK but the quality was outstanding. The batter is beautiful, crispy yet melts in your mouth. Not too greasy. The fish is served with skin which some may dislike. The chips I loved dry and crispy. They do not serve gravy. The curry sauce is good. I was sceptical that this chippy would not be as good as Peters in Gillingham, but it has superseded it. This is my best chippy in Kent.
My first fish and chips. Nicele cooker Cod and wonderful yellow fried chips. Super.
Great chippy in the center, good prices, ginormous portions. Sadly there are scant sandwiches scattered in Sandwich, but the proactive visitor can make a DIY one here. Ask for an extra bun (bread roll), along with fish and chips (haddock is a great option, the large portion is enough for 2), a side of mushy peas, tartar and ketchup. Break off some fish, layer it with chips, criss-cross with ketchup and tartar sauce. Slather the mushy peas on both sides of the bun. For some extra zhuzh, add a fishcake. Why not? You're in Sandwich, baby! Enjoy yourself the best cheapest and tastiest sandwich in Sandwich. I call it the Papa Tom Sandwich. You're welcome.
Absolutely delicious! The best chips I've had for a long time! Not greasy and piping hot! Sadly, it began to rain whilst we were sitting outside, but we still enjoyed our meal!
