Table wasn’t ready so we were asked to wait in the bar (which wasn't an issue) but then told within 30 minutes of sitting that we'd to leave in 30 minutes. No hotdog starters so that wiped out 1/3 of the starters. Hash browns a mush of oil, biscuits were really disappointing, fries unevenly seasoned as some were over spicy & others just plain fries. The beignets were delicious as was the house white wine but that was it for all 4 of us. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to this experience having looked forward to it since the menu was announced, and hoped it’d be worth our three hour round trip drive.
Beautiful hidden gem! We only planned on having a couple of cocktails and nibbles in Barbelow but ended up staying till closing time. The staff, the drinks selection and the atmosphere was perfect! Definitely something that's been missing in Aberdeen. We can't wait to return ????
Went here for brunch and got the spring greens sourdough. Unbelievable flavours and just the perfect start to any day! 10/10 recommended atmosphere, food, music and staff
the food here was amazing. I had brisket benny and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten.i saw a couple of bad reviews.prob someone trying to get a free meal.going back soon to try the Korean chicken next.5⭐️
We really didn’t enjoy our food here. So many things not available from the menu (at 5pm) and some starters only enough for one serving. Our mains didn’t fair any better but were edible however my friend wasn’t able to eat her food at all. The two puddings, fruit cake and ice cream or ice cream, were the only choices but I’m not sure you could call it fruit cake. Never seen one like that before. Again almost all of it was left on the plate. We did tell the waitress we didn’t like the food and she was very apologetic, the quality wasn’t her fault. We had a voucher for the meal but we were asked to settle the bill of £2 for the extra bacon topping! Was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had and hope it was just an off day for the chef. It has put me off going back unfortunately.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a starter - what’s not to like ? Amazing quirky food served by friendly helpful staff. The fish tacos were wonderful- planning to visit for brunch soon !!
Me and my girlfriend loved our experience at Olive Alexander’s, the food was fantastic and we highly recommend trying the Korean chicken and the kimchi rice balls! The staff were great and very friendly too. After our meal we thought we’d continue the night at ‘The Barbelow’ downstairs which had a great selection of drinks and nice wee beer garden out the back with some heaters and blankets for us. We will be back very soon!
Incredible little cafe. We had the peach cobbler French toast and the beef brisket Benedict, and pleasantly surprised by the massive portion sizes for how inexpensive. The decor in the cafe is well thought out, the service is lovely and we will definitely be back!
