It was late. After a long day of walking the Wall, I arrived in Haltwhistle. Despite walking in the door a moment after closing time, the staff and owner were happy to take my order. I'm so glad they did. This has got to be one of the best fish and chips I've eaten in years! The serving size was very generous, especially for a small order. The batter was crispy and flavourful without being too greasy, while the thick piece of cod was perfectly cooked. The chips were very nice too. All for a very reasonable price. Oceans is top-class and highly recommended.
When I don’t feel like cooking I get a takeaway from Oceans.
As I can’t eat batter I ask for a breaded fish and chips. Hubby has Smokey some of my fish as it’s huge and Chips and curry sauce. Always delicious. Owner and staff are lovely and friendly.
Excellent small chip shop on Haltwistle high street. Small fish was HUGE and cooked to order by friendly cheerful helpful owners. Plenty of chips and all very tasty. Definitely recommend this chippy.
Just like to say absolutely amazing fish and chips , got 2 lg fish chips , lg chips curry, gravy and peas plus’s kebab meat and absolutely blooming marvelous!!! The crunch on the fish was there till the very end probably the best fish I have had for many many years , thank you so so much beautiful ????
Best fish and chips I’ve had for years. Haddock was perfectly cooked. One portion of fish and chips was big enough for us both ????

We ordered one fish and chips for two people based on the reviews here (whale-sized portions). That was a good thing, since the portion was certainly large. Nice and crispy batter.
