Great pub food and very friendly atmosphere - we will return!
Me and wife always stay half way up on our travels to Newcastle to see family. Often at grantham in premiere inn, but this time we did something a little different and stayed at an air b and b at saltby a local village.
What a great decision. We arrived quite late around 8pm and literally just opposite was a local pub called the Nags Head. We went straight across to look at the opening times and headed back just to take bags to room. As we walked away the landlord John came out and greeted us outside. He was amazingly attentive and welcoming offering us a menu to browse whilst returning to our room.
This pub is an amazing little Gem. The food is extremely delicious, homemade, locally sourced thanks to kathy and great value for money. Although there was not many people there at first the atmosphere was great, cosy and soon got busier as time went on. The toilet facilities are of high clean and decorative state. I always believe this sets the standards of an establishment. We would definitely come back. We would like to thank the landlords for the hard work and wonderful experience. We wish you all the very best for the future and can not wait to return.
John and Kathy are great landlords who make you feel very welcome. On our lunchtime visit, there was a small but all homemade menu. Food was delicious and generous portions. Well worth finding this great pub.
So nice going to lie, we arrived at 5. Had a pint then originally food. John still does his job even though he loses money. Best pub food,, follow this pub kath is s great cook
Just great drinks served chilled ???? thankyou that's what you call customer service ???? the food was lovley I tried the fish and chips, I have to just add how clean are your toilets ???????? even provided with hand cream can not beat a village pub it seems ???????? I would very much like to visit again soon thankyou for a lovely evening family meal ????
Have been visiting the Nags Head for many years. Yesterday was a birthday celebration meal for my daughter. Food is excellent, never had a bad meal. Would thoroughly recommend the Nags Head.
I was there for a burger night, and it was one of the nicest I've had. Hand cut chips also excellent. Service very friendly
Our 1st visit here, good service and lovely food, and at a good price, home made chips was a big plus, nice clean pub with a wonderful decor.... parking not so good but we managed.. would visit again
